From what we know about Rafa it seems likely that he has not given in on his principle but rather that a compromise has been reached and he is happy to be seen to be the one to back down as long as at least some of his key concerns have been addressed.

Back down I take as a compromise being struck between Rafa and G&H. I trust that this does not mean that he has backed down as our manager
