Despite the poetry, it was a good gig. As I said she played two sets: the first one with cello and variously piano, acoustic guitar, bass but no drums was excellent with some good songs; the second was her reading her poem, The Coral Sea, backed by Kevin Shields.Originally posted by RedlifeWow! That's very cool. Nice one.
I trust you video-ed the whole thing and are currently uploading it for us all to see and hear?
What was Shields' guitar playing like? I can only think of him in terms of the MBV albums.
A very cool gig to see.
Shields was superb - he's got a good trick of playing the guitar like it's ukelele yet managing to make it sound like strings. Ah, the wonders of effects pedals.
Jason Pierce sat in on the first set too.
The whole gig was a reprise of her performance at Meltdown last year (which I didn't see) and was recorded for future release. She said one of the recordings, about Fred Smith, would be on her website on Thursday which was his birthday.
Before this thread is inevitably moved, there wasn't much in the highlights showing Agger's performance although they kept commenting about how well he and Kuyt played. Didn't look much of a game..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
