Brouwer moves at about the same pace when sprinting as he does when he's trotting.

Agree with all that, Spearing was brilliant tonight. Nemeth took his goals well and hit the post. Plessis looks huge in midfield and San Jose looked very assured in defence. Decent game.

I thought Brouwer was good last night! Some nice touches and turns and was very good in the build up of attacks. My only worry is that he didnt look like scoring for the entire match ... until he popped up with the winner in the last couple of mins that is

I was also impressed with Plessis, Pancheco and Spearing.

I was disappointed with Putterill and El Zhar.

Where's this lad from Madrid, Bruna ? Is he too young to play for the reserves ?

            Bruna was on the bench.
I can`t remember him coming on.

I think Brouwer is awful. He's got a bit of skill, but that's about it. He's static, slow, cumbersome and I just don't like watching him play at all. How many times did he try to run with the ball last night and how many times did he get caught up? Fairclough was like, "I just don't understand, he should just be sprinting away - how does he keep getting caught up?". Because he's slow!!! Here's a novel idea - after the fourth or fifth time of trying, how about just holding onto the ball and picking out a pass instead.

I got the impression when we bought him in that he was a target man of sorts - is that true? If so mys suspicion is that he was viewed as a player who would be more important in terms of developing others game and understanding of the various ways Rafa likes to set up a team. With it being a low risk gamble in terms of cost and he may have developed into a decent player but that would have been a bonus for us.

Think Brouwer is the only striker we have that can play the lone striker role at reserve team level - to be honest I think this is his level & he will never be good enough to break into the first team, therefore I would prefer to see Pacheco get more game time because this lad really looks like a player

Nemeth looked lively to be fair, Insua his usual excellent self, Spearing did very well also but Plessis is starting to impress me after a couple of nothing performances. Rarely looks for Hollywood style passes but keeps possession very well and keeps it neat & tidy

Puterill is not going to make it despite all his efforts & still can't make my mind up about El Zhar. Always think back to when we signed Baros and he apparantly looked crap for the reserves, never looked like scoring and he ended up being top scorer at a European Championships - suppose some people are better suited to first team football so I try not to be too critical of youngsters

After watching that Reserve game I am quite excited about our future. There are a few of that lot who could make the step up, far more than we have had in recent seasons when our best prospects were Mellor and Partridge.

Pachecho looks something special, reminds me of when Michael Owen first burst on to the scene.
