    Rafa vs. Wenger

does anyone have a net spend analysis they know of to compare Rafa vs. Wenger? Whilst I appreciate Wenger has done well in the market he also has a lot of expensive flops who have not. So would be interesting to see the numbers over hid 10 years at the club vs Rafa's 3 years

Great question - I need to know this as well to shut my Gooner mate up.

Well 10 mill for Jeffers and 6 mill for richard wright were great buys!
thing is, Wenger has brought in gems for next to nothing and has sold them off for mega profits, even made a profit on Henry and Viera once they were "past it" at Arsenal.

He sure has!! Signing Anelka for £500,000 and selling him for 21m is a decent bit of business Plus there were huge profits made on Petit and Overmars.

...and how do you factor in the League titles he has won? How do you financially 'credit' his side of the balance sheet with his success?

I find this determination to conjure some formula by which it can be 'proven' that one manager is better than the other a bit meaningless.

            The score is:

You want the CL - Benitez by a country mile.

You want the PL - Wenger....
            Francis.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

            A defensive mid for £18m?

I'm not saying one manager is better than th eother. What I want to know is how much Wenger has spent as Arsenal fans repeatedly say Wenger has spent peanuts and I'm not convinced.

Well their reserve team in last years Carling Cup was valued as having cost anywhere between £20m and £35m so it is clear that they are investing substantially. From memory Traore cost £3m, Denilson £5m and Diaby £3.5m but these were all press figures so who knows really.

Rafa has finished above him 2 out of 3 years. Could argue that Wenger was rebuilding his team, but so was Rafa and he had a lot more rebuilding to do.
I think its to soon to tell who is the better manager, would need to give Rafa a few more years to see how his youth developes and how his team goes.

                    We....Parry.
                    Arsenal had Dein.

                    That's a very big difference.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
