It's looking inevitable. The speculation is being allowed to rage, the club are doing nothing to quell it in spite of talk of mass demonstrations by fans and tens of thousands signing petitions etc. But instead all the club will say is we'll review things on 16 Dec. It's pretty easy to draw your own conclusions.

No smoke without fire as they say.

So in case that is unclear, I blame the owners who have done nothing to ease the pressure on the players, team and management, but instead seem to have either deliberately or inadvertently increased it
Or perhaps Rafa should've kept his mouth shut, instead of opening this whole can of worms, no?

Lets be honest, if you were in the yanks position, would you have came out and backed the manager after he had a pop at you in public?

If anything their statement is more on the benign side. But I suspect people will interpret it the way they want to.

Fed up with this to be honest, let’s get behind Rafa and the players, some big games coming up. That's all that matters now as far as I'm concerned.

As I have said, the problem is probably Hicks, not Gillett.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Have the same feeling this time that Rafa will not be going. If someone shows me some concrete evidence that the yanks want him sacked, then maybe I'll change my mind.

But I've yet to see any.

I was absolutely certain Stevie was gone as well

I get your point and I hope you're right.

I would be able to accept Rafa losing his job because of his failure to mount a title challenge than some bull **** childish squabble over money.

Or perhaps they haven't sacked him because he's doing a good job, and they never had any plans to give him his p45.

I think it's inevitable but I take Niall's example regarding Stevie. He was a goner...twice and he ended up staying.

How was the Step Inn over the weekend?

Agree with you, Rafa acted unprofessionally and his comments and actions were ill-advised. But it's clear his actions were borne out of frustration, perhaps from promises being broken or whatever. I doubt he had a pop just for the sake of it, he must have had good cause.

Difficult to know what you'd do in the yanks' position, but I dont think you can compare this to a simple situation of an employee being insurbordinate to his superiors, there is more to this than that. My personal view is that yes, they should come out and publicly back him if they think he is doing a good job as manager esp as it will quell the speculation, and IMO they can have no complaints with the job he is doing.

I'm also finding this debate tedious. No doubt we will get behind Rafa and the boys, but will the owners and board be doing the same?

Yeah was good - thanks for suggesting that. Was there for the England-Croatia match as well and had a good laugh at the English's expense

Will def be back when I'm next in town during a Reds game.

Surely even they are not stupid enough to sack him mid-season? it seems to me that they've concluded either they can't get on with him or they have no faith in him delivering the title or challenging for it. It would be folly to sack him now though with so many crucial fixtures coming up.

Certainly hope your interpretation is right though. If they do think he is doing a good job though and have no plans to give him his p45 why not publicly declare that and kill the damaging speculation in the process?

Take on board the Stevie point, although in that case it took a huge change of heart from the individual and it was solely down to him as to whether he stayed (and not the owners which is what it would probably take in this case).

Don't get me wrong, I love him as our manager. Sure he frustrates me at times what with his rotatation, his baffling substitutions and his over relaince on the Spanish market. But he's a top class manager, as good as any around in my book.

So why do I hope he resigns. Well I think his days at LFC are numbered. I think his rift with H&G/Parry is past the point of repair. He's a dead manager walking in my view, and he deseves so much better than that.

He deserves better than being reduced to making his point in bizarre press conferences. He deserves more than being forced to wear a track suit on the touchline to make his point. He deserves more than being reduced until mid December to find out if he stays or if he goes. He deserves more than the public dressing down from Hicks, sitting smugly 6000 miles away deciding that Rafa has overstepped his authority by sorting out transfer himself. Instaed of asking why he has resorted to this they castigate him like a headteacher berating an errant pupil. Rafa loves LFC far more than Hicks ever will, or ever could.

At the moment Rafa must feel like he's on death row, waiting for the deadly phonecall from America which will end his reign. He knows like we do that they are merely waiting for the excuse to sack him. It might be tomorrow if we don't beat Porto. Or next week if we don't beat Marseille. Or the week after if we don't beat Man U. They've got Rafa were they want him, like a cat toying with the mouse its caught, knowing that at any time the cat can kill the mouse. The mouse trying to cling on to life but at the cats mercy.

Even if Rafa does survive, he's been severely weakened. They've got him by the balls, H&G know it, Rafa knows it and we know it. One of the things that makes Rafa the great manager he is, is the fight of the man. He'll take on anybody if he believes he's right. He'll do it his way with an unshakable belief in his own ability. Give him the power and he'll deliver the goods. But thats gone now at LFC. He'll never have the control he craves and needs to make LFC the no.1 power at home & abroad. To do that he needs to control everything at LFC and that will never happen now. He'll always ahve one eye and ear on the USA. What will G&H do if I do this or that. Can I say this or will they sack me. He's fatally wounded at LFC now, no matter what happens.

So Rafa, leave on your own terms, leave with your dignity in tact. Don't let them 2 bit yanks decide when times up, don't give them that satisfaction. Walk out of the Anfiled via the front gates, not the side door. Don't accept their blood money to keep stum, tell us what really happened, you and we deserve that.

Rafa's an all time great LFC manager, he deserves to go with respect and thanks not at the whim of power/money hungry yanks who don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as him.

Thats why I hope Rafa falls on his sword and does it soon.

                        LFC RIP.
wow, thank god i was away since last thursday throught yesterday and missed all the hysteria,im still not fully up to date on what went on,and it will stay that way until something drastic happens.

ive read a few posts here and there trying to find out what happened but the posts have been far to depressing to continue reading.

im sorry mate but this post seems just stupid and all a bit to over reactionary,if im reading right your saying you want to see rafa walk just to spite H&G.

thats just daft, why wouldnt you prefer to see the situation resolved so rafa stays?

and can someone just fill me in on rafa wearing a track suit and why thats such a big deal and whats this waiting until mid december to learn his fate, what was said about md december?

In summary - G&H tell Rafa to concentrate on coaching the team and leave transfers to Parry, and they will talk about transfers when over on 16/12

Rafa says "I am focused on coaching and managing my team " repeatedly in the prematch PC for newcastle. Then wears his tracksuit for the newcastle match.

Stevie was very close to leaving - it was on a knife edge. I really hope that Rafa is not as close as Stevie got, because it would be a terrible step backward for our team. Despite your mockery of those who are concerned, obviously from these words you are acknowledging that there is reason for it.
