Obviously if we win in Marseille, we're through regardless. But if we draw...

Well, if we draw, we need Besiktas to win in Porto.

If that happens, Besiktas will top the group with 9 points and our draw in Marseille means we'll be on 8 points with Marseille AND Porto.

In the situation where THREE teams are all level on points, it reverts to a mini-league between the three.

Hypothetically, let's say we drew 1-1 in Marseille.

The complete results of the mini league would be:

LFC 0-1 Marseille
Marseille 1-1 LFC

Porto 2-1 Marseille
Marseille 1-1 Porto

LFC 4-1 Porto
Porto 1-1 LFC

So the mini league would have ALL three sides on 5 points, which would then leave it down to goal difference, and it would be as follows:

Porto scored 5, conceded 7 - GD of -2
Marseille scored 5, conceded 5 - GD of 0
LFC scored 7, conceded 5 - GD of +2

So in those circumstances, we'd go through.

I'm fairly sure i've got that all correct. If someone knows differently, please do let me know.

Definitely hoping for Besiktas to get something in Porto. If we beat Marseille and come top of the group our next opponent is likely to be a good deal easier than if we were to come second in our group.

But yeah, i hear ya, topping the group would be sweet after the uphill task it had become.

There are 4 confirmed group winners so far, Chelsea, Man Utd, Inter and Barca. I think we'd have country protection, but even so, i'd rather not have to play Inter or Barca.

LIKELY group winners are Madrid, Milan and Sevilla. I'd rather avoid those three as well.

The likes of Celtic, Rosenborg, Rangers, Fenerbahce and Roma are far more appealing opponents
