i assumed he'd be looking for managerial positions only.
don't think so. his time at bolton proved he's got a lot to learn.

Yep, he tried to change their style and make them play, compared to Fat Sam's style which was more substance than style. Look at Allardyce now, he's trying to play football with a better team, but he ain't getting the results.

a good move if true. sammy was hightly regarded as a coach under GH (who knew plenty about coachig and coaching set ups) and may just be one of those guys who is simply better in that role than as a manager. think of colin harvey, brian kidd, steve mclaren. all crap managers but laudd by the very sucsessful clubs they worked at (well even everton had a spell once!!!). The club never wanted sammy to leave but didnt want to stop his career progression.

I'd be very happy with this ... he seems like an excellent coach by all accounts and excellent with the players ... not sure on how technical he is .. can anybody give a more knowledgeable opinion on our Little Pocket Rocket Sammy Lee ?

i dont want sammy as no.2 would want someone who could take the club forward if rafa left. Sammy as boss - hope not

An interesting point as it's quite clear that Sammy would never realistically be in a position to succeed Rafa. Any suggestions? I can't really think of anyone suitably qualified who would be happy as an assistant (like Queiroz is at ManUre).

                        Carlos Queiroz did it.

that doesn't neccessarly make it any more desirable for sammy.

I know it doesnt - but I was merely making the point that if the job is the right one - people will sometimes take a step backwards.

Not sure where Sammy plans on coaching but I doubt being no 2 at Anfield would be a backwards step. It's a pretty good job I would think.
