Why has our capt been quiet so far?

Why do you think SG has not opening backed the manager? We have heard indirect backing from Reina and Torres but it has been very quiet from SG or Carra.

I recall when Houllier was under great pressure, SG went over to hug him after scoring a goal. Last week, SG was opening backing Maclaren.

    Any thoughts?
    We going to win #19th!!

From reading his autobiography Gerrard respects Rafa but there isn't a "bond" there like there was perhaps with Ged. Maybe.

It appears they have a professional relationship, just as i should be. You don't see any of the Scum players running up and hugging Fergie do you?

He and Carra are also the 2 players that have had some contact with G&H. Let's be honest the "scrap" is an off field one that the player's have no idea of, therefore have not and should not commentate on IMO.

Probably cos everytime he says something it gets twisted or taken out of context or some such bollocks. I prefer it when he says nothing.

Exactly, they are all being very careful about what they say. Gerrard is the club captain so he has to be extremely careful with anything he says to the media, expecially regarding this. Both he and Carra have basically dodged the question when asked saying its none of their business and they just concentrate on winning football matches. I think its completely understandable, but Im certain that behind closed doors they are both behind Rafa 100%.

I'd love to have seen Rafa and Hicks not play this little game in the media. The press have been writing Rafa's obituary all week! I thank God that SG and JC haven't commented in public as whatever they say will be twisted into a pro- or anti- Rafa/Hicks rant. I hate the media even more after this past week - they truly are vultures.

On top of that their comments would add further credence to the validity of the crisis. By not saying anything it reflects that it is not as big an issue as the media are playing it, regardless if that is true or not.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Stevie must have been the only player who had that relationship with GH coz he pissed off so many players it's unreal. Look at the way GH treated players like Jari Litmnanen etc.

I'd prefer it if they made a very short statement to show they support Rafa but have it done properly so there's no room for the media whores to twist their words. I used to think traffic wardens were the scum of the earth but that's been replaced by the media.

Maybe considering the presedents cited abouve Rafa told him not to
