I'm hoping to see my mate this week and get some pics or an idea of what the new plans will look like. As I've previously said, for obvious reasons I won't be able to publish any pics but I'm quite good at Pictionary so I'll describe them as best as I can!

Wasn't Hicks brought in because of his experience and track record with building new stadia for his US sports franchises? And a fine job of it he is doing with us as well...

Nice one mate. Will be interested to know what you think of them once you've seen them, and will be hoping for reassurances that it is a much improved design on their previous effort.

Regardless, I can't see it in any way matching up to the HKS design. I've just been on http://www.newanfield.co.uk and seen some pics of the HKS one which I've never seen before, and it is truly breathtaking.

Now we will get a stadium that we can fill week in week out. I doubt that we could fill an 80k stadium for example every week.

People are not using the media's portrayal as the basis for their arguments, it's the fact that the club has allowed the poisonous media portrayal to fester and gnaw at the team and manager putting undue pressure on them that has got people's goats up.

I'm not using what the media have said about this to form an opinion.

I don't buy the papers (except the Telegraph on Saturday, and they have not written anything about this). I only read this site and the Beeb, again they have not mentioned this yet. I don't have Sky Sports News, and don't watch Setanta News. Even 5Live haven't mentioned this yet to my knowledge.

I am more than capable of forming my opinion on what the club has / hasn't said, and what RS4 has posted.

Who here is still willing to give the Americans the benefit of the doubt? They've backtracked on the stadium, the promies of Snoogy Doogy look empty, and after all the Benitez mess, does anyone have any faith in the way they are taking our club forward?

I am. Remember when they bought us we were getting a 60k stadium. They are still talking 70k.

Just to re-iterate again, my architect mate reckons the revised AFL design is pretty impressive and if it holds 70,000 that is a significant improvement on the original 'Parrybowl' design. If it saves us £200m into the bargain then surely we must be better off?

Better off yes, but this is what we'll be missing out on:-







I'd be a lot more confident if HKS were doing the redesign given their track record of having designed some truly breathtaking stadia, but AFL's last effort was truly underwhelming. That's why I'm concerned. Otherwise in principle I'd be happy with a 70k capacity stadium and £200m saving in running costs.
