We just have to wait and see. We should see soon whether Rafa is confident of working within those terms ... or not.

        I concur

Personally mate, i think that this quote is a load of bollox, let's see what happens in the coming weeks

Apologies if this joke has been made on pages 10-17. I logged on to this thread this morning and it opened on Dhavlos' comment. I can't be bothered reading the rest.
I did of course mean "fanfare" and not "funfair"

Its all the bad publicity, going back on their word, giving it all the bollix then ****ing making us all look like cunts when they cant deliver.

              **** them.

I support Liverpool and Rafa, not the americans one iota.

Thats ridiculous, and in fact you could argue quite the opposite. Those as old as me (iff there are any here!) may well remember the chelsea stadium fiasco during the 70's. The big triple decker stand now at Stamford bridge was build at (then) huge cost, and left no money for transfers. Chelsea went thorugh tough times - including relegation-which were only really solved when our Russian Friend appeared on the scene. Thats over 20 years , and all blamed to this day on spending dissproiportionate amounts of money on a bit of a stadium. Personally I'd rather G&H back down from thier plans a bit and show somw good sense here, and to me its more a mesasure of the men they are by doing it. And of course we all may like the new new stadium even more. Time to stop looking for reasons to hate people and pull together, its pathetic.

                1. a 55,000 seater bowl with no seats in the corners
                2. the 60,000 "Parrybowl" we've all seen and had planning permission for
                3. a 70,000 version that looks like a smaller Wembley with twin arches above

The last one sounds just like the way my contact at AFL has described the revised plans although he did specifically comment that there would be a bigger, curving Kop end. Perhaps, however, this pic might give us a hint of what the revised AFL plans could look like:

Hopefully, as I've already said, I'll try to find out more in the next few days...

Doesn't sound very unique, just sounds like a few different aspects borrowed from other designs.

I hope HKS can come up with a cheaper design, because no offence to your mate but it doesn't sound like these guys at AFL can come up with anything imaginative or original

I don't know anything about the Chelsea stadium fiasco in the 70s, but that was a different time and different era, and they're Chelsea, we're Liverpool, and as long as we're in the CL will always have a steady income we can rely on.

And from where I'm sitting, this stadium fiasco gives me cause to be concerned at the yanks business' acumen. Firstly why publicise the designs with all that fanfair when funding wasn't in place for it and they knew it could be an issue? Secondly, are these guys the only ones who didn't foresee the credit crunch and economic downturn? Lots of people in the last year have been disposing of assets because they knew it was the right time - what did they see that the yanks missed?

I wouldn't mind a smaller version of this one....

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

wishful thinking, that Dallas stadium is a beut and some of it's design aspects were incorporated in to the original HKS design i.e the glass, the plaza etc

I hope we get a unique looking stadium rather then an Ikea one.
                        We come not to play.

That's how Leeds justified their expense on players. Never rely on this just in case we don't get it, it is a nice to have and any revenue from it should be invested back into the team.

As opposed to the extra income a further 20,000 seats would bring. Even at £25 per seat average (it'd be more, cos they'll be executive boxes etc, but lets call it 25 for simplicities sake) for 18 home games in the league, you're looking at an extra 9 million in revenue.

I've seen figures on this site that say the mancs bring in an extra £2 million per home game than what we do, so just for 18 home games thats an extra £36 million...

A new stadium is a must, especially as expanding Anfield is not an option. And if that means that we are budget limited (ie, a net spend of 20 million a year on player purchases) for a period, then it's a necessary sacrifice.
