My contact at AFL has just been in touch...

They've all been given a presentation on the new stadium as the Project Team have arrived back from the States...

It's totally different, a lot more organic & much much better than the old design... bears no resemblance to it at all

They're being very tight on allowing access to the images but I hope to have something tomorrow - even a freehand sketch...

Balague said he's got his number one target, Skrtel. Besides, I think they may be waiting to get Sissoko out the door first and use that cash towards Mascher. I think this is just a sensible course of action, so I wouldn't read too much into Mascher not being signed yet.

I have said this before. If they bought the club any time in the last 15 years, financing would have been no problem for them. I personally think the valuation of football teams has peaked now. It could not escalate forever. I think that they are overvalued, and a correction is overdue, just like the housing market.

I wrote a long post on this in another thread a while ago, but it didn't get much comment.

If this is true why are so many foreign businessmen looking to buy up or invest in Premier League teams then? The figures the Mancs released this week and the Arsenal ones earlier this year, would point in a different direction. The TV revenue has just jumped massively and we ourselves have just announced a best ever Merchandise sales figure of $2mil for one weeks sales, all without huge improvements made. Clearly owning one of the worlds most followed/supported football teams has huge money spinning potentials. If the team is playing well we would sell out a 70k seater week in week out, not to mention the extra 100 executive boxes the new stadium would have.

Even if what you say was correct then you really would have to wonder at the business acumen of H&G, surely they drew up a cast iron business plan and were aware of the finances required before making their offer!?! They have made certain promises when they bought the club and central to their plan is a new 70k plus stadium. The whole plan to move the club forward revolves around this and the fact they appear to be struggling to raise the funds is bound to raise more than a few concerns amongst the fans.

The big money for the clubs will come when they will sell their TV deals separately and not like it's now with one TV deal for the whole PL.

Say that you pay £3/game. If you then get five million to watch it on the net/TV then you will earn a cool £15m/game.

Say that we play 20 home games a season. That means £300m/season. The big clubs will sooner or later play in a european super league instead of in the PL with big money like that available.

It may take five-ten years before that happen but it will happen sooner or later IMO.

will never happen........i just dont think it would maintain the fans interest and how many rockefellers could afford to have a season ticket for a euro league? and personally i wouldnt wanna travel all over europe week in, week out!
