I've just logged on now but I sent my mate a text asking for an update earlier today. Unfortunately he's not replied yet. He got his first ever mobile for Xmas from his missus who is trying to keep tabs on him but he switches it off so she can't get hold of him!!

I hope they do go with HKS to be honest but if they do I won't get any more 'insider' information which is probably just as well really...
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

It's a curse having the Insider tag isn't it?

RS4 - Why do you hope they go with HKS? Is it because it is the better design?

i liked the last hks design myself, and if there new design is similar i'd be happy.i just don't want g&h to go with hks because they are a yank firm, but for the fact it's the right one.
          who's arsed?

I prefer HKS's design from last summer to the original AFL design - who wouldn't - but I haven't yet seen the revised plans from either firm so I can't comment. My mate at AFL is very impressed with their new design (and he is a contractor so his view is impartial) but he also liked the HKS plans.

All I know is that Phil Osborne, the Creative Director at AFL, was still out in the States last Friday and they were confident of getting the nod. I'm sure which design they choose might affect (or be affected by) the outcome of the refinancing deal which is why they will probably announce both at the same time in the next two days.

                    From Rushian on RAWK......
Well HKS won the new "competition". Costing is £300m.
Looks like RS had right again
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

US architects firm wins battle to design new Anfield
Jan 25 2008 EXCLUSIVE: by David Bartlett, Liverpool Daily Post

AMERICAN firm HKS will today be announced as the architects of a new 70,000-capacity stadium for Liverpool Football Club.
Sources confirmed HKS as designers last night, while lengthy negotiations on a £350m refinancing package for co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett continued in New York.
The successful completion of the deal is almost certain to be announced this morning, when fresh pictures of the revised stadium plans are also expected to be released.
The American co-owners are hoping to use the crucial announcement as a sign of their commitment to the club after they sparked fan fury by courting Jurgen Klinsmann as a possible replacement for manager Rafael Benitez.
Dallas-based HKS – regarded as Tom Hicks’s favourite firm – revealed their original designs to widespread acclaim in the summer of 2007 but they were dropped last December because of soaring costs.
Hicks and Gillett then asked HKS and Manchester-based AFL, who were behind a previous set of plans rejected because they were “obsolete”, to create revised schemes.
Last night, a source close to negotiations told the Daily Post: “HKS have been chosen as the architects. The stadium is still the same sort of size.
“The details remain pretty much the same, but they have found a more cost-effective way of doing it.”
In December, LFC chief executive Rick Parry said: “It will have a capacity of around 70,000, be higher quality and have a substantially increased Kop which will form the centrepiece of the new plans.”
The Daily Post understands that the new designs for Stanley Park stick to that blueprint.
It is understood that there are no serious hitches with the controversial refinancing package with Royal Bank of Scotland and US investment bank Wachovia and the £350m deal is all but signed off.
Around £105m of the loan is expected to be put on the club’s books – £60m for the first instalment towards the stadium project, and £45m for working capital which has helped finance the purchase of players.
This is seen as an entirely legitimate way to operate, as those costs were associated with the running of the club.
The Daily Post understands £185m, accrued in buying the club last year, will be secured against Hicks’s and Gillett’s holding company, Kop Investment.
The terms of the agreement are also expected to see Hicks and Gillett putting in some of their own money – around £40m – supported by personal guarantees and letters of credit.
The debt could be paid off personally by Hicks and Gillett with the club paying the pair dividends each year.
It is understood that a further loan of around £300m will be required to fully fund the new stadium.
The key question now is whether the deal made by Hicks and Gillett is enough to ameliorate fans upset by the prospect of the club sinking into debt and their fears for the future of the ever-popular Benitez.
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.
                              The Future is Red!

                                Oh I don't know.
