People really should separate the stadium and it's costs with the LIES regarding placing the purchasing of the club onto the clubs books. There is a HUGE difference.

I always knew whoever bought the club would take a loan out against the club for the new ground. That to me was acceptable you can't expect something for nothing! The problem is (and always has been) the loan of the money taken out by Hicks and Gillett being down to the club
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's to do with 18500 people in a single tier trying to evacuate within a certain time limit. A sort of quick and easier route rather than 18500 people cramming down into the small tunnels etc

Im unsure the stadium can be easily upgraded...

The costs have dropped due to features such as executive suits (not boxes) and other luxury facilities being toned down.

The two sides of the stadium are almost the same regarding seating arrangements, the extra seating has, as you can see from images, come from the opposite end to the kop which is now a full stand revised from the orginal expandable one.

There seems to be different structural techniques used in the design of the roofs. If you compare the inside of the original design you will see the roof was made into a feature as well (costly). The new designs hide all the work that has gone on to keep the roof there, making it easier and cheaper to do, but it doesnt look as good

Aye, that confusion is undermining the real issue of the club paying for itself. Chuntering about paying for the stadium makes us look like monkeys, but ignoring the real issue of using the club to fund its own purchase makes us look like retards.

Stadium still looks prett cool to me tho.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

A lot was made in the original design regarding acoustics. I wonder if that part of the design has been ditched?
              Oh I don't know.

When you put it next to the original good one, the big feature, ie, the Bulging Steel bit, its drasticly different, does'nt look half as good.

True, but if all this saves £50m then I'm happy!

I think they should have gone for a complete change, the original was designed out of certain materials & in a way that highlighted them, the whole design for me hung on that fact, to now just downsize the big bulge feature, make it from cheaper alternatives just compromises the whole design, other parts now dont look spectacular, they've added lots & lots of glass, ( perspex ? ) to it also. again compromising & cheapening the look, don't think this comes across till you put them side by side and study them, seems to me the bits most affected are the ones that made it what it was, iconic, dont see that in it anymore.

TBH all I care about with the new stadium is the 71K Capacity, the single tier kop, the extra revenue, better facilities and most importantly the intimidating ATMOSPHERE we create. The design does not mean an awful lot to be, sure I want it to be pleasing to the eye but at the end of the day old toilet is an "ugly stadium" and they are ther best team in the country!!
                          Dare we believe

And we will have a water retention system

It's a fair point. I wont argue with that, I just await the end result & how it works for fan's.
But once it's built we're stuck with it for ever.

Exactly what I've been trying to say in the other thread. If the £105m really is spent on the new ground and players, then we haven't been duped into paying the cost of purchasing the club or even the interest, we've borrowed money to invest. When they bought the club, they never said that they would give us a ground at no cost to the club as well. Whether the money to pay the interest on the purchase loan is filtched out somewhere else is another matter...
