Agree with you Kurt, it still looks awesome and comes in way cheaper than planned, which hopefully means more money for new players

It still looks good though and I hope that we see a shovel in the ground soon. I'd like to see what the AFL design looked like just to compare them both.

I wonder what the status is with planning permission? As the stadium is almost exactly the same as the last one will the club continue with it's idea of starting the build with the lower capacity and then re-apply when building is under way for the increased capacity or will a new application be needed from the outset?
I still think the £300m price HKS is quoting will be without the fit-out which could add another £50m based on the original design being valued at £400m without the fit-out and £450m with the fit-out.

I'm still trying to get the drawings or walk-through DVD for the AFL design. I didn't go in the pub tonight where my mate from AFL would have been but I'll be in tomorrow. He's been keeping a low profile last few days. Maybe since they found out that they'd lost the bid they've laid a few contractors like him off.
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

        We can hope, can't we?

I think that the stadium is far more crucial to the club in the long term than any player though and if we have to go down the Arsenal route of blooding some youngsters and making only one player a year until the ground is built then I'd be fine with that. Infact I think the majority of people would.

The nucleus of the sqaud at the moment is very good and I don't think we're to far off where we want to be.

This stadium wont come soon enough. We all love Anfield, it's home after all, but we can't stay there and continue to be as competetive as we'd probably like to be.

I'm impressed though and if this stadium becomes a reality we'll have a ground that's the envy of the other top clubs in this country.

I'm amost sorry that AFL never won the design because, judging by things you posted on here, your mate was quietly confident that they'd get the nod.

I guess the close contacts Hicks has with HKS played some part but the stadium design produced by them is totally unique. If anyone comes up with something similar in the future it would merely be a copy. We have the original!!

I'd love to see what the AFL design was like. I loved the idea of the potty effect. I had it mapped out in my mind as to how it would look!

Perhaps the design will be kept under lock and key for future projects though?

Cheers though, RS4, your info on this has been top class from the start.

not a chance in hell it'll be ready in 2011. Just wait for the next **** up. A few pretty pictures that a A level student could knock up won't convince me about these two ****s. any minute now they'll hire bob the builder to get the work started.

Thanks, Scott. As I posted in the Big DIC thread, I am pretty certain that going with HKS is a clear indication that Hicks is here to stay and he's Butch with Gillett as the Sundance Kid...

I'm of the impression that they're both here to stay. The deal they have in place suggests that they want to see this out. You don't become a hard nosed multi millionaire without having staying power.

Earlier in the week I thought that there might be alot of truth in the rumors but, in fairness, it appears to have all been speculation.

I'm just glad we can put it to bed, for the forseeable future at least.

The stadium will hopefully become a reality in due course.

My only concern at this stage is the planning permission. If we can get that sorted, or find a way round it due to the stadium design being almost identical to the already approved plans, we could very well see things started soon.

The capacity is obviously a big factor because what they're planning is another 11,000 bums on seats meaning that we may have to put some cash towards improving the infrastructure.

I wonder if we can start the build and then re-apply for the increased capacity as was the clubs intention all along?

to be honest i'm not sure they've gone for the HKS version for any other reason than it's in budget, and is similar to the last design which means:
                      a. they're not a complete laughing stock dithering between this design and that
                      b. the planning dept will let them start on this one without a new planning permission being sought as it's so similar to the old design which had planning approval.

i can't see the fact that they've gone for this design bears any relation to the future - i know HKS are from Texas, but if they wanted HKS and HKS alone then they wouldn't have invited AFL back to the table. IMO AFL just weren't good enough to take the job from HKS who kept near enough the same excellent design, and shaved £100m off the price.

                      It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                      Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

Iain, any ideas if some time down the future all the corners could be built up instead of having spaces? I want to have one seat more than the mancs or id rather stay where I am

You probably have no idea of the answer but you are the only cunt on here with a chance of knowing

We appear to have lost the full-stops in L.F.C. The first casualty of cost-cutting is acceptable punctuation. Twas ever thus.

Also, getting superdan to do the font for the lettering probably saved a few bob, too.

I think George's never-ending silence suggests that he, at least, is looking for an exit.

Hicks doesn't even speak on behalf of Gillett anymore and why not so much as a peep out of him on the day his equal partner announced the refinancing package and stadium?

I got a tattoo of l.f.c on my arm with a big **** off liver bird above it but there is no full stop after the letter c. The tatoo artist and my bird reckon it looks more symetrical as it is. I reckon it looks daft.

                              Opinion?

I would probably keep it as it is mate.

L.F.C isn't a sentence so there is no real need to punctuate.
