I read a marginally different version of this yesterday and it worries me no end to be honestOriginally posted by rushscored4 View PostWhat I did find out tonight was that there was a 16 man panel to judge the two stadium designs and according to my man at AFL no less than 15 preferred their scheme which has better acoustics and is realistic. Only one person apparently voted for the Texan firm HKS - can you guess who it was?
If Hicks & Gillett are 50/50 partners & out of the main players Gillett, Moores, Parry & the independant company hired to provide advice on the preferred stadiums all favoured AFL's design, how is it possible that Hicks gets his way - that's like a dictatorship !!!
FWIW I wouldn't have a problem with either stadium, I just want then to start so we can see some real progress being madeAt a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

Personally I prefer the HKS New Anfield
The fact that it reflects the current Anfield with four stands - like a traditional football stadium slowly built up over the years - & the way everyting is focused towards the Kop is unique.
The AFK one is a mish mash of the Emirates, Wembley & HKS's Dallas Cowboys stadium
But like you guys say - will it ever get built?!What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

F*** off!!!

I like them both, AFL is better than I thought it would be and I wouldnt be unhappy with it, like its been said before its the supporters that make the stadium anyway, that said I do prefer the HKS design but my initial thoughts were that it was unlikely to get built anyway.
I have no reason to disbelieve RS4 when he says some elements of the HKS stadium are unworkable/unpractical and no doubt should the stadium go ahead it will cost millions more to solve these issues.

The AFL design for all the glass and arches still looks like your carbon kit stadium, infact the inside looks exactly the same as The Emirates.
AFL say that the HKS design is unworkable, that i have no idea about, but why would they design an unworkable stadium, sounds a lot like sour grapes.
They also talk about acoustics etc, to me the HKS design looks more steep more nearer the pitch with a lower roof so would this not generate a louder nosie then the 'open' AFL design?
But we'll see, i think we'll still be at Anfield a fair few years to come.We come not to play.

I wouldn't have objected to either being built. The AFL design has some good points - I do like the crowd going all the way around the stadium for example, even though people will call it a bowl.
I think the HKS stadium looks worse than the initial draft. From some of the angles it's hard to even tell it is a stadium.

AFL design just looks like the original Parry Bowl design cleverly disguised with a moustache an curly black scouser wig
. Its still suspiciously similar to the Reebok Stadium albeit on a larger scale.

That maybe....but would you rather the AFL one built or the HKS one in development hell for another 5 years? ha ha I cant see either being started in the next 18 months thats for sure.Originally posted by pablo1981 View PostHKS design for me any day of the week

Mmmm, I'm suddenly feeling hungry..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
