I don't know what game you watched but at the time (I was watching the game on TV abroad) the match facts showed at half-time that Everton had failed to have a single attempt on goal - their goal being Hyypia's OG, so therefore not credited to them as a goal attempt. In the rest of the game they had just one other feeble attempt at goal while we were queueing up to squander chances and Howard made a couple of superb. stops, while Reina was a spectator and didn't get his gloves dirty.

When I returned home to the UK I watched a recording of the game on video and about half-way through the second half the commentator reinforced this view by saying that if Liverpool didn't go on to win the game (it was 1-1 at the time) they would kick themselves because they'd been opening up Everton at will. So I fail to see how you reached the conclusion that we didn't really deserve to win.

I think we where lucky to win, the penalty decision at the end was a stone cold one, that would of ment carra and agger out aswell for 3 games!
We deserved to win just. And as for SG's sub it worked in our favour.

I think its sad that people think Gerrard cant be taken off because football is a game of 11 men, and you get the same people saying Liverpool are a one man team, yet when Gerrard is taken off and we win they dont like it.
As the glove said they just had to mark him out the game to stop us.
Taking him off upped the other players game and stalled evertons.

I wouldnt sell him, as the poster at the top said, that would be absolutely ludacris. Just because Gerrard isnt the most technical or intelligent footballer does not mean his isnt world class, i dont know any player in the game with an engine like Gerrards, his tackling passing shooting, running and leadership skills are first class and any team would take him in a heart beat.

You never see the likes of the other players deemed world class, running back 50 yards to make a tackle and play the ball, that can lift the team and is as valuable as anything, the first form of attack is defence and keeping possesion, and he is one of the best at it. It goes to show when Liverpool are off form, Gerrard usually is said to be off form (but usually if Gerrard off form, so is Liverpool, what is usually said) But i dont agree with it, because when the other players are having a **** game, they see Gerrard as the easy way out and all it takes is for the opposition tro mark him and we dont have many other players who can do much.
