It's all well and good, but if we make games like yesterday a regular thing, we aint winning any titles.

That my friend is a classic reply
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Well yeah, form has been great and you arent going to always win, there WILL be days like yesterday.

We have to make sure it's a rare exception.

I've purposely avoided the footy forums since last night because I was certain the knives would be out for Rafa on here as usually. No offence to you DJS, although that's not the most negative post I've read from you and I'm sure worse has been said since yesterday but your post above is a case in point.

We need to look at yesterday in perspective. Yes, Rafa's team selection and tactics perhaps did not give us the best chance of victory yesterday, but he still started with our key players in spite of much bigger games on the horizon and the team should still have been capable of winning the game. As out of sorts as we were yesterday, we could still have easily won the 3 points, we had an unjust penalty awarded against us, we couldm have won 2 ourselves, and we hit the woodwork twice, and but for Gerrard's usual hyper, steaming-in routine when we're under the cosh (he needs to be more calm and composed sometimes) and the goal we conceded as a result, I'm certain we would not have lost that game. Yesterday clearly was just never going to be our day.

I'm not judging Rafa on the basis of yesterday. He is under huge pressure to win the game on Tues, he knows that he could perhaps lose his job if we dont win in Marseille or knows that his Jan transfer kitty will be significantly reduced and the reinforcements we badly need might not be obtainable. I blame the owners and board for not easing the pressure on him and reassuring him that his job is safe and that he will have a specific amount ot spend in Jan regardless of CL progress. In the absence of such assurances, it is no surprise he prioritised Tues, esp as soon as we went 3-1 down. We have much bigger games than yesterday on the horizon, and he'd be foolish not to prioritise those ahead of Reading away.

Rafa can take us to the top, I am firmly of that belief, but he needs to be backed right now so he can get the reinforcements we badly need.

My post above is perfectly sensible and states that if we cant make yesterday's result a rarity, we wont win the title.

I've been fairly tame with regards to yesterday's result.

And my last post, after the one you quoted, might be worth a read for you.

Oh yesterday happens every week doesn't it.
Jesus we lost one game so far and still have it all to play for we were a little unlucky yesterday also but that'll never be counted by any who continually want to hound Rafa.
