I think we could have won the Reading game with just 1 or 2 lineup changes

I also agree with others who are saying that the "throwing in the towel" approach was absolutely galling - I hope I never live to see that again

Have to agree with all these sentiments.

Particular the 1 or 2 changes bit. I don't like Momo and Mascher as a midfield pairing but had Kewell been in there instead of Crouch or Voronin, and we shifted Stevie over to right, then we would have had a 4-4-2 with at least some balance and shape to the side. Instead we go from the extreme of paying Blackburn too much respect - with a 4-6-0 formation - to paying Reading no respect at all and assuming some random group of players can do enough to win regardless of their formation.

Doesn't say much for our squad strength if Rafa felt he couldn't change the game with 20 to go. I hate to say it but take away Torres and SG and we are a bit toothless. They have scored 50% of our goals in the last 10 games.

This can be said about all the top 4 teams, you cant lose two players of that quality and expect to be as good attacking. Looks what has happened to Chelsea, United and Arsenal when they have lost there best players.
