I know but you cant blame him for not really knowing he has only played about 10 times

True. Actually I was thinking his response to you was at least an attempt at reasoned argument. Imagine if a Man United supporter had posted here (other than DJS/carheex) and any one of our 4 paulcoopers had seen it. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I just hope we don't play Sissoko in midfield.

Or that Rafa picks a silly team like he did against Reading.

Not feeling overly confident, more hopeful than anything. Because, as we all know, they are the spawniest ****in team ever.

Just win, any way, by any scoreline.

Jeez - have some faith will yer!
Reading was a hiccup - no more. We're winning games comfortably - and making teams look bad into the bargain. Sunday will be no different.

Yeah but they are so ****in spawny.

            We do owe them one.

My level of confidence before kickoff will be determined by the team Rafa picks.

She'll be giving us any extra help we need from above to stop them winning on Sunday (16th).

Hehe, Sound mate i wont try convince you any more . I'll agree, we are a pressure team so to speak (never heard that used before).

United play better football than us and have the ability to produce something out of nothing fast, where as when our players (except Gerrard and Torres) get the ball they are a bit slower and look for someone else, rather than running with it themselves.

I like the way United players can swap positions in there team, its a real asset and can mess up Benitez' planning because Rooney, Ronaldo, Giigs and Teves are all comforatable in each others position, so if he has a man markign system on any of them i doubt it would be as effective as he'd like.

The best we can do as you say, is stop you playing with the pace you do and keep the ball and put pressure on you. We dont have too many shots which is a shame i think because VDS isn't as good as 2 years ago in my opinion. I wouldnt say Reina is as erratic as Barthez , maybe when it comes to dealing with crosses possibly, but Barthez thought he was a winger half the time . I remeber when we won you at Anfield a while back now and he was on the Half Way Line, i was shouting at Westerveld to take a shot, i'd hate playing in front of Barthez, you'd be wandering if he was behind you half the time.

I can see United Scoring definatly, the only players i can see scoring for Liverpool is Torres and Gerrard, maybe Kewell because i dont rate Brown highly. If it was me i might even play Babel there just because with his pace Ronaldo may have to back track to stop him aswell, where as Kewell is a bit slower and the play wont be as fast.

Scousers will start fast, and we'll concede possession in less threatening areas of the pitch. Last half hour/25 minutes, we'll be the fresher side,Saha will come on and stretch the game (as he did last year), taking advantage of a tired Hyypia, and either scores or sets up the winner. p.s, I bet the decisive goal comes from a defender...Evra's been unlucky not to score of late, fingers crossed.. United 1 Scousers 0.

                            The way Rafa will play

First 10 minutes- high pressured, quick passing, quick down the wings and loads of crosses, might see Arbeloa and Riise bombing down and a high line. Will try and get some corners to create pressure and free kicks in critical areas of the pitch. This will lift the atmosphere and we play best when the noise is high. Try and get the goal

10-30 Minutes- If goal is scored, look for the second. They will be more open, try and exploit whatever got them conceding the first goal. If goal is not scored, make sure all players are well concentrated and try and catch them on the break.

30-45 Still no goal, as before. If goal is scored, keep the game tight, don't over commit.

45-60 Goal? Keep the game tight and narrow. Two banks of four with someone from the forwards dropping deep to make a five-ish midfield line. No goal? Same tactics as goal, don't over commit, try and control the game, keep the ball, short passing, create pressure around their defence

60-75 Goal? Keep tight, introduce sub to change the shape and style and patterns of play. No goal? Definitely introduce a sub, attacking preferably. Widen the game, their legs will be starting to wobble, crosses and increase the pressure and tempo

75-90 Goal? Concentrate and try to counter as many times as possible. Never over commit. Bring on fresher legs to stretch the game and one to strengthen the defence. No goal? CROUCH! Long balls near Evra, weak at long balls. Must win second balls especially Gerrard at the edge of the box. Crosses from wide areas and diagonal balls preferable. Make sure defence don't concede unnecessary free kicks in their attacking half.

That should be the game plan of Rafa. Its a bore I know.

They did mate yeah, i dont know the exact team, but the game wasn't a 'meaningfull' game so to speak. You and Roma had already qualified, so there wouldnt of been the same effort gone into it from both sides.

You played a similar (marginally worse) team against Coventry and they lost, so weather its a case of every dog has there day with Roma or Coventry where more up for the game i dont know. The Roma result was a good one, but weather you would get the same on in the Premiership i'd like to see.

I think the United Squad has more quality individuals than the Liverpool squad, but i'd say the Liverpool squad has a better outlay and depth to it, if that makes sense. For instance, in the Reading game Away in the cup, we played 7 'Squad Players' and won.

i wouldnt disagree they have more match winners, although think babel, benayoun and a fit kewell are starting to redress the balance!
