We are 16 hours and 15 minutes away from the biggest match of the season. Forget the bitters across the road, this is the biggest match of the season. Lets **** them over!

Wife and kids just gone for the day, been up 3 hours already. The clock looks like it's going backwards at times. HURRY THE FOOK UP!

Can't wait for this one. I just hope the result is a reflection on who played the best footie over 90 mins and not some ****ty ref decision or flukey 97th minute goal off O'Sheas backside.

Hope the Anfield faithful is in fine voice for this one.

GRAND SLAM SUNDAY: LIVERPOOL v MAN UNITED SKY SPORTS 1 KICK-OFF 1.30PM SMILING ASSASSIN'S TAUNT
                          By Steve Bates

Sir Alex Ferguson last night insisted: I'd rather see Liverpool relegated than crowned Champions!

The United boss may have said it with a smile - but after smashing the Kop's domination of English football once when he first came to Old Trafford 21 years ago he has no desire to see them end an 18-year stretch without a Premier League crown.

A United win at Anfield today would deal a serious blow to Liverpool's hopes of ending a nightmare run without the prize that was once their own private property.

And Fergie lit the fuse for another epic encounter with United's deadly rivals by admitting there's no football ground on earth he'd rather see his team win at more than Anfield.

Although he has sympathy for under-pressure Rafa Benitez, Ferguson exploded with laughter when asked whether any part of him wanted to see Liverpool back winning titles to make the rivalry even bigger.

"You must be bloody joking," he chuckled. "Do I look as If I'm a masochist ready to cut myself ? How does relegation sound instead - bloody hell! I enjoy winning at Anfield more than anywhere else.
It's a historical thing and although Liverpool may be desperate to beat us we are desperate to win too - it's not a one way street this.

"Historically and geographically we are the two most successful clubs in this country, so really, what do you expect?"

Ferguson's often said his first job at the club was to break Liverpool's massive domination of the English game in the 1970s and 80s - and he did, winning nine Premier League titles to Liverpool's none in the past 15 years.

And although that delights him, he never thought Liverpool's failure to hit back in the title war would last 18 years.

"I didn't expect Liverpool to go 18 years without winning the title but Arsenal beat them in 1989 and that changed it a little bit. Liverpool were becoming an older team then.

"They regained it 1990 but lost it after that and we were growing big at that point. Young players were starting to emerge like Ryan Giggs and we had bought in players like Schmeichel, Parker and Kanchelskis - we got some speed and power into the club.

"After we lost the League to Leeds in 1992 we just needed someone things down because it was a team of great energy and drive about it but maybe not the subtleness to change the face of the game.

"We got Eric Cantona the following October and it opened up the door for us."

With the top four dropping more points to lower placed teams this season, Ferguson is convinced the big games between the elite sides could decide the title race.

"As long as teams like Bolton and Middlesbrough are beating teams like United and Arsenal, and other teams keep taking points off the big ones, the games between the big clubs will be even more important than ever," he added.

"The games against each other are crucial and winning on Sunday will be big, because the League is more intense and competitive."

Stand-in skipper Wayne Rooney will hand the captain's arm-band back to Giggs who should start after being left behind for the trip to Roma in midweek to collect his OBE from the Queen.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I hate watching the Utd games. It is just about the result. In defeat against utd there is no positive to draw from a good performance.

I hope we play **** but grab a hotly disputed last minute winner.
