I agree with you, I am never confident with him from the spot. He's missed far too many to inspire confidence when he steps up.
        He did.
I was at that game. It ended 2-2.

Would love to see Phil Neal's record. He never seemed to miss a pen.

That was a great record from Molby

Also worth mentioning that the rule changes have given the advantage slightly to the goalkeeper in recent years. With Keepers now aloud to move across their goal line (and a few yards off it in the case of Dudek ) it has meant that they have a better chance of unsettling the penalty taker.

Also I would add that often strikers make poor penalty takers. If they are an instinctive finisher (as Torres seems to be) then they often over think things when given masses of time. Van Nistlerooy was probably the best penalty taker in the Prem of recent years, along with Shearer, both never gave it too much thought, just comitted to hitting it in a specific area, and placed it there as hard as they possibly could.

As far as LFC penalty takers go I like Aldridge taking penalties, he used to look at the keeper instead of the ball as he was running up and then place it last minute based on where the keeper was diving, now that takes a hell of a lot of skill. Think Rush used to do similar too.

I'm never confident when we get a penalty anymore, not just when Gerrard is taking it either.

I think Owen and Fowler are to blame - they missed far too many IMO especially Owen (someone quoted the stats earlier - very poor return).

The last great penalty taker we had was big Jan - I always knew he was going to score. Gary Mac and Danny Murphy have been great in recent years though.

I think Danny Murphys career has been a real shame, hes a really good player and great at set pieces.
                              I like Danny.
