John Wark was a top penalty taker. So was Julian Dicks for West Ham - I'm not sure if he took any for us, though.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I remember Dicks taking a couple of penalties for us. I'm sure I saw him miss one but I might be wrong (14-15 years ago now).

John Wark is a good shout.

        Johnny Wark, scored 3 missed 1 (v Everton 1984/85)
Julian Dicks, scored 2 missed 0 (one of these was the last goal scored by LFC in front of standing kop)

The FIFA rules don't mention a step in the runup (and they are very detailed - to the extent that there is a rule for the penalty taker handling the ball instead of kicking it).

                Thanks for that.

It's all good and well letting keepers move up and down the line, but if players can stop their run up half-way, it nullifies the advantage.

                Anyway, apologies for the hi-jack!

The thing is ... Gerrard once said that Pepe told him how to beat a goalkeeper when you take a penalty. There's a spot that the goalkeeper can't reach, unless he is standing there

Basically, Gerrard said that he used Pepe's advice in FA Cup final v. West Ham.

And no, I don't feel confident when Gerrard takes the penalty, but much more confident than when Kuyt takes it. I thought I was going to wet myself watching the derby match at Goodison this season - especially when Kuyt ran up to take the 2nd one

hate to say it, but Cantona was probably king of penalty takers

Bit harsh on Danny Murphy that, he never missed.
