If they don't what it feels like to be involved in one, then yes. It was like asking Roy Keane about the England situation.Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostSo let me get this straight, is it ludicrous to ask an ex-player who hasn't been involved in a title run in/or won a league title their opinion about who will win it this season?

Every football fan has an opinion of who they think will in the league. And as an example, no one on here has been involved in that situation, so does that mean that their opinions don't count/can't be taken seriously?Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostIf they don't what it feels like to be involved in one, then yes. We have opinions. The people on Sky Sports are expected to be experts, they supposedly have more knowledge about football than us. Hence they have expert opinions. A lot of the Sky Sports lot don't have expert opinion because they aren't experts at the game. They just have opinions.Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostEvery football fan has an opinion of who they think will in the league. Sorry, I totally disagree. The problem is they assume people are good pundits just because they've had first hand experience of top level footy. Perhaps they'd do better to have a few people who haven't had that experience but are still knowledgable and can actually form a reasonably cogent argument on things?Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostSky Sports don't have a lot of pundits who have won a lot. Thommo is probably the most decorated pundit. What makes them experts if they didn't play good football and play in good teams? Its like asking someone like Dennis Wise who he thinks will win the title. He hasn't won a title or been in a title race so it would be ludicrous to ask. Same logic with 3/4 of the pundits here.
Learning to play the game and studying the game are not the quite the same thing. Having playing experience is undoubtedly an advantage, but it's not the be all and end all. I'd sooner talk to a couple of good posters off here about football than some of the absolute morons Sky have on.
Then again, perhaps the real problem isn't that Sky don't recognise this is the case, but that they like it the way it is seeing as having morons work for them gets people calling into You're on Sky Sports and e-mailing SSN.Like blood on iron

And that year we won the title .................and the scum finished sort of nowhere

Keegan was bought for £35,000................(yes Thirty Five........) from Scunthorpe during the summer.............. Legend has it that Shanks called KK into his offiice the day before the new season kicked off and said..........." So Son do you want to play for the reserves tomorrow?"Originally posted by Steve101 View PostKeegan was bought as a promising player who impressed so much he was put striaght into the first team squad.
(reserve games were played on a saturday.......... home if the first team was away and visa versa........ there was also only 1 sub on the bench for first team matches)
Keegan replied " No Boss I want to play for the first team"
The rest as they say is history........... I remember the game..... we lost the toss but I remember thinking........... this lad looks a bit good...........we were sort of 3 nil up in 20 minutes and the whole team was trying to engineer a goal for keegan.......... and he scored
oh the days of the standing kop............... and i was a lot younger obviously.............. even if we still had a standing area I an not sure this old body would be up for it.............. I love my chair in the Paddock.............. it allows me to shout abuse at the likes of gary neville knowing he can hear me
it is also in my mind that keegan wqre the number 10 shirt for his first game for us............... can anyone confirm?
oh and............
