probably, although I never really thought we could win it this year anyhow.

We shouldn't be able to compete for the title this season because we still have holes in our starting XI and in the squad even when everyone is fit.Originally posted by Tom View Postprobably, although I never really thought we could win it this year anyhow.
Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea don't have that when everyone is fit.
Man U spent around £80m net this summer we spent £23m net.
I think that showed today.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I was hoping for us to close the gap, but I'm not sure it will be too different from last season, except we'll be fighting the chav's for 3rd.Originally posted by Tom View Postprobably, although I never really thought we could win it this year anyhow.
We've got a few decent youngsters now, but we still need cover at the back and a decent partner for Torres.
Where as last season I was full of excitement at the proposition of having some decent amounts of cash to spend, I'm now a little worried that G&H have done a job on all of us and will spend little.
You can be sure the Mancs will spend another £50m+ next season.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

I always do that but I'm also realistic. We can win the league but we would then need very much luck to do it.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Mind you I never thought we would anyway. 3rd I said from the outset.
Just so long as we're "in touch" throughout and mount SOME SORT of challenge, it will represent progress.
Not being out of the race by October was a start. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

We're one top-class forward shot. Anelka would be a good stop-gap.Originally posted by FatTony View PostI was hoping for us to close the gap, but I'm not sure it will be too different from last season, except we'll be fighting the chav's for 3rd.

We desperately need cover at centre and left back.
Personally I think we can do better than pennant at right mid.
I reckon we need to spend about 50 mill.

its a crazy mentality some of our fans have, i am gobsmacked really
the sad thing is some of these deluded beings actually believe the stuff they say
in the end we all get our hearts crushed equally

I would be keen on selling the following:
Carson
Riise
Kuyt
Pennant
Sissoko
Perhaps Crouch/Voronin
Withthe money raised buy only one or two quality players. I would be happy to see some of our kids on the bench to bolster the squad if needed. This could be our way to compete short term and longer term

We were crap, in fact ****. That was one of the worst performances of the season- alongside the Birmingham game. The crowd didn't play a massive part after half time, yes we booed the pantomime bad guys but we didn't seem to lift the players, none whatsoever. We were too narrow, no creativity, didn't expose Vidic, Evra and Van Der Sar enough in the second half. For those thinking Riise had a good game because he kept and bombing forward-look at his final product, it was as usual rubbish. Kuyt is still crap, always has been, doesn't look like he will be any good. If Fergiescum can trust Anderson to play who played a blinder, why doesn't Rafa trust Lucas? Should have dropped Kuyt and played three in the middle. Positives= Babel and Hyypia

Agree to an extent. I thought we played without any brains. It was all off the cuff stuff, no real thought to it. Utd were sharper all over the pitch.
Rafa likes to use the word 'mentaility' alot and today only two players from the starting XI showed it for me: Sami and Riise. THe rest of them were average at best with Kuyt, Kewell and Carra having dire games. We looked a bag of nerves and couldn't hit simple 5 yard passes - all over the pitch.
Watching Masher and Gerrard switch roles with Stevie holding was another poor, poor decision. Gerrard was way too deep to affect the game.
Rafa bemused me. His substitutions were too late and the wrong way around. kuyt was having a total mare and yet stayed on longer than Kewell..... How Dirk stayed on for so long was astonishing.
I used to believe Rafa would win us the league but I'm not so sure. To say he's still learning how the Premiership works is wrong. He's been here long enough to know it by now. A game against Utd is a battle of wills - and today we simply didn't have it.
Theres a ****in surprise.
Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.
