Bad result yes, but I see progress, even if it's marginal.
I suppose that easy enough when you live in Mauritius. Nit quite so easy when you live in the north west of england fredo

        1) Wallow in self pity and mindless blame games; or

        2) Move on to Chelsea and whatever follows.

We need to discuss the problems more and defintely the positives more. But most of all we need to spend less time dwelling on the negatives.
I still dont get why you cant be bitterly gutted about yesterday, while still being behind the team.

I'll be bitterly gutted about that result until the next time we beat them FACT

I am more hopeful of beating them away from home considering our form.

              That is a good point.

Don't worry though we still have Scum supporters in Oz, for whatever reason. Not anywhere as bad as what it would be for those of you in firing line though, for sure.

If it makes you feel better I reckon we will knock them out of CL SF

I don't know but there's still a great rivalry amongst both set of fans here. I've heard these ****ers lighting firecrackers etc ... But it's part of a game of football. We lost, shake hands and look to the next game.

I'm not saying he's trying to undermine the club as he's a true red, but these forums are regularily trawled for gossip, and to pick up the general "vibe" of support. That isn't a guess by the way or speculation.
does that imply that we shouldn't post on here then, or that these forums should be closed down, or maybe even censored in the name of what is best for the club?

i've not taken part in the post match analysis or had chance to read it, but whats the point in a forum that doesn't discuss, or only agrees with itself.

I wouldn't shake hands with those ****ers for fear of getting some grusome skin disorder or something.

I'm a fiery ****er myself. Hate losing, be it watching or playing a knock about game with mates. In the past I often let arguments about losing to the scum where my mate would provoke me, finish in fights and insults. Even my dad (who's a manure fan) had to take the brunt of my frustrations. I decided to change as it's no point mulling over a defeat over a game of football.

It's done me a world of good.

I still hate losing, but it's kept in check now.

Don't be ****en silly, you think I am not bitterly gutted. FFS

What i am saying is the forum balance is out of whack with too much domination of doom. See the "post match v Marseille" thread, which you made such a fantastic contribution too.

I just refuse to let it infect me and every post I make. I acknowledge that Rafa is a million times more knowledgeable about this great game than me. Therefore when he makes "mistakes" I try to understand why, rather than try to be the "Internet Shankly" and slate him for them.

No offense because you have posted much better after this game being far more rational, even positive at times, as it should be.

Whenever we beat someone like Marseilles or Besiktas we are the best team in the world and we're gonna win every trophy. Lose a game and we are **** and will win nothing.

Get a ****ing grip, lads. We are what we are: a decent cup team with an outside chance of winning the league. Why should we deserve any better? Because we are famous? Because we have history and tradition? Because of our record number of trophies?

Bollocks - none of them count for anything. Ask The Wanderers or Preston North End. Ask Huddersfield who were the most successful team of the 30s, ask Nottingham Forest, ask Leeds. Even ask the Mancs who went 26 years without winning the league championship (and only after Rupert Murdoch had changed the name for them).

The Mancs, Chelsea and Arsenal all have more money than us and we have more money than the rest. That is why we will always be battling for third or fourth place and winning cups. But what about the promises the Yanks made? They're rich but they're paupers compared to Abramovich and we don't have anywhere near the same turnover to compete with Man United or Arsenal.

That's life. Deal with it. Until we start producing great youngsters on a regular basis like Arsenal we will always struggle to reach the very top and win the 'Holy Grail', the league championship (whatever it will be called by then).
Mate, the yanks did not promise Chelsea like spending but they did intimate more $$ support for Rafa- the famous 'snoogy doogy' comment. Its a matter of opinion whether Torres was tv revenue and CL dosh or would have happened anyway thru H&G benevolence. They made all the right noises about squad improvement . Torres and Babel are obvious improvements and if they sanction similar spending in summer we are building a first class squad. Gillette has even said over the weekend that the squad has a long way to go so he acknowledges at least the deficiencies we have.

As you pointed out we dont have the revenue streams yet so personally I dont care if the stadium is revised again as long as it is built quickly so we can generate the $$ for players and move into a more competitive financial league. Other teams like City are catching up remember they already have a new stadium and the owner seems prepared to spend like a drunken sailor.

I think we have a right to be dissapointed that we drop games against teams like Reading and Birmingham at home and then lose to Man U. Im hurting but will never give up on the team.Genuine improvement demands that those games are won and thats what frustrates me the most. We have made progress though, we would have beaten Chelsea except for a stupid ref and we all but beat Arsenal, the reserves are on top and we have some real exciting young talent. I just hope Rafa gets the time needed and some extra $$ to build his dynasty.
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.
