You can support the team Liverpool, but you don't have to blindly support the individual. No one person is bigger than the club. The club is all that matters and if someone believes that a player/manager/director/coach or whoever is bad for the success and future of the club, then you're entitled to your opinion.

I'd sooner have a fan who occasionally questions things than one that happy claps.

    Superb post.

I wonder if these great supporters supported Diouf as a red when he was spitting at opposition fans? After all he was a red so surely we shouldn't be critical of the disgusting scum bag?

Diouf was everything that a player of LFC shouldn't be. A vile little man. Good riddance.

The odd thing is I have heard two people who have met him say he was a nice lad in person. Some of his actions in a red shirt where however disgraceful.

The above is a good post, but not in the context of this thread.

"Another thread slagging our players off"

That's not aimed at Diouf, Souness or any individual, it's aimed at people like Kuyt who plays his ****ing socks off for this club. I am forgetting that there are so many people on here who know better, and love nothing more than to second guess our manager and slate our players though.

The strange thing is though, when there's a thread about our owners, the ones who are publicly making a mockery of our club, and people come out and express their disappointment, some of the same people here will call it hysteria and have a go. Gone to the ****ing dogs. Some people feel safe in the internet clique and prefer to go with the flow.

TBH, i'd expect more from the likes of yourself and DS , but maybe I was wrong about that too.

Who plays for us currently that comes anywhere near Diouf in terms of being a horrible ****? Why are there so many posts slagging our players off? We're going to end up like ****ing Newcastle.

It just grates me when those who are justifiably critical of players are called out as lesser supporters. I don't hate or dislike Kuyt, far from it. He always gives 100% which is admirable but he's simply not good enough to be a Liverpool player imo. or at least not what we need if we're ever to win the league. I can't fault his commitment but I can fault the fact that he's a poor footballer who wouldn't get a look in at Chelsea, Arsenal, United, spurs or probably Everton. How does that make me less of a supporter??

This year is no different to any other year. In fact the quality of our squad has improved so much that there are only a handful of players I would class as not being good enough. Gone are the days when our squad was filled with devastatingly poor footballers...Heskey, Cheyrou, Diao, Biscan, Josemi, Nunez, Pellegrino etc etc. Now I would say we have 3 first team regulars who need to be shipped out. I'd never boo them at the ground but I will always honestly analyse their performances and if in my opinion they haven't performed at a decent level I'll post my dissatisfaction.

And we will never end up like Newcastle

You obviously totally misunderstood my post. I wasn't calling anybody a "lesser" supporter. Nothing of the sort. I was stressing my distaste for the constant stream of ****e, moaning, ill-informed posts "slagging our players off" (to quote). There is nothing wrong with giving an honest and well thought out opinion on the positives or negatives of any of our players, but some of the drivel spouted on here sometimes.......

It's a shame, because it dilutes some of the really good stuff.

I ran into him outside est est est in the albert dock with my kids one christmas, he was there with his own party. We had a bite to eat ourselves and we met him on the way out. He was with Traore, Diao and some model. The kids asked him for his autograph and he refused. Traore and Diao were ****ing huge, they made a fuss over the kids. I told him if the kids werent here id ****ing kick you up and down the dock you spineless cunt. He then tried to take it back saying he was only joking. The kids then told him he was ****e anyway and Traore started breaking his balls saying, look even the little kids thing your ****. theres nothing wrong with criticizing players or their performance, i do it all the time. for instance i don't think crouch, kuyt, sissoko have what it takes, and i have my opinions why and i have posted about them and speak frequently about it, but it's the manner you do so that is up for discussion here. this place has been hysteric over the last few months. there is no time for proper discussion, it's all been a bit 'tabloid-ish' posters spouting ****e at this or that, shooting down posters of other opinions. the infamous post 'why is no one slatin yossi' says it all really. we have gotten so used to players being slagged of that that a questions was raised in surprise, like it was our job to go after all of those who don't have a good game...

it's all been a bit black and white around here. when we win we are the best in the world, we can win the league. praising players (but hardly ever praising our manager on a good day). when we loose we are ****e with worthless players and a crap manager that will never win us the league. there is no room for sensibility, and sensible posters get lost in the midst of all of this hysteria...

it's however good to know that most on here are passionate for the club and so am i. but you'll never win an argument or get your point across on passion alone, and most of the time you have to put aside the passion to produce the argument. lets chill out a little bit, i'm all up for arguing and criticizing but in the right manner. i know that there are a lot of good poster that don't bother posting anymore simply cause they won't take part in the slag fest that sometimes goes on...

i love this place, i feel at home here, like a lot of posters here and i'll probably never leave this place. but we can all improve and i'd like to see this place a tad nicer and more balanced and i know the mods and a lot of other posters agree with me...

                            Fantastic post

There is a nucleus of very good discussion in this forum, but sometimes it gets washed away in unbalanced and tetchy posting, especially in the aftermath of games or during a contentious news story. Achieving an overall tone in here where passion does not override an inherent level of respect, where posts can be criticised and argued with but posters themselves do not get attacked or abused for giving their genuine opinions, and where reasoned debate does not lose out to one-line flipancy, is something we're very eager to get on the case with, and are hopefully starting to put together some non-punitive means of achieving that.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                            Mine angry and defrauded young?

Great post, Diego. Nail on head in fact.

It only takes a couple to derail and inevitably destroy a good thread and it's happened a lot this season. Expectations are so high and patience is being sorely tested but at the end of the day everyone needs to take a step back sometimes and look at the bigger picture.

The league might take longer than we want but at the end of the day it will just taste all the more sweeter.
