    Multiple minor offences

What a load of bollox this rule that means cumulative small offences equal a yellow card. Surely a yellow card offence is just that and anything else is just a free kick or even not worth stopping play for. It happened to Lucas last night but happens all the time elsewhere.

Why cant referrees just accept that this is a phyiscal game and occasionally tackles get mis-timed/people fall over etc? Just let the game flow FFS

Too right it's bollocks. Since when did this become accepted?

Had this been applied when I played, I'd have been sent off on the 'totting-up' procedure every single week. Niggly ****er me, in midfield.

Seriously though...I would've been. I don't ever remember this nonsense being applied until fairly recently. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm with you - it's a load of ****e.

It applies with certain players but not others from what I saw last night. He gave Lucas a final warning after just 2 tackles then a good 20 mins later when he committed his next 'foul' if you could call it that he couldn't get his card out quick enough.
This might have been mentioned on another thread but I haven't had the chance to read through yet but how do we get the same ref we complained about in the last game??
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Lucas was warned after a few fouls (you know the ref points all around the pitch to exactly whre the offences took place, lol) and I knew he would end up getting booked , but it was ages after when he actually booked him. I think the rules is an ass, as over the game he probably fouled 5 or 6 times. That said the ref appeared to be in favour of the Blue team all night.

I think that a review of disciplinary procedure is needed but on this I think the rules are right. Persistant fouling, like cynical fouling needs to be punished for the benefit of the individual game. Admittedly it is a very subjective call and leaves the referee a lot of leeway but it is still a good tool for game management.

How many people didn't think Rooney would have deserved a yellow for repeatedly jumping into Carra the other day for example?

I too agree it's a good rule. Stops teams breaking up lay by fouling every two minutes. But it does need to be concistant.

The ref clearly had issues last night and was blowing up for no reason last night.

As long as there's consistency, there's a level playing field. That's what worries me, a lot more than the rules themselves.

It's a good rule for punishing sides that go away and attempt to break up the rhythm of the opponent's domination by making lots of these types of fouls. I personally thought Lucas was a bit harsh to get penalised last night, then again he was going into a lot of challenges.

But at what point does it become a yellow card offence? How can a ref objectively say that the accumulated fouls equal a yellow card penalty?! Fair enough if it were when they got to 5 (for example) but with some refs its 3 and others its 10 or more....

Persistent fouling, say 5 or 6 times, with warnings from the refereee as you go along, has always been a reason for a booking. The devil is in the detail, what is persistent fouling, what level of repeated foul adds up to a yellow. Didn't see the game, i was working, so I can't comment on this instance. But the persistent fouling thing was made clear during the several coaching and refereeing courses I have taken.

my beef with the ref is that a whole lot of his challenges werent even fouls, he got warned for something that was no way a foul and got booked for something that was on the fence of being a foul if i remember correctly...
