Now i dont know how concrete this is. He isnt the type to bull**** but having said that, many a 'good faith' bit of info has turned out to be a mistake...

Anyway, he claims to be acquainted with someone who is very pally with Carragher and word is that Rafa is indeed going to be dismissed in the summer and Mourinho has already been sounded out and agreed a deal in principle to become our manager. This is why he turned down the england job, it's nothing to do with Real Madrid, Barca, Inter or Milan.

G&H made contact with him amid the England speculation and he opted for us, instead of the England job. The reason it wont happen until the summer is due to the terms of his pay off from Chelsea, he is legally unable to take another Premier League job until the summer.

Nothing much different to the speculation we'd already heard, but just passing it on. I myself questioned why Carragher would be privvy to this info and why he'd pass it onto anyone, but that's what i've been told anyway.

I finished speaking to my journo mate a few minutes ago. He's a sports writer with a "quality" national. I use the term quality loosely but at least it distinguishes from the gutter tripe.

He had a few interesting comments and a bit of a bombshell too.

Firstly, information and sources within Anfield are fewer than ever; most of the time they are feeding on very little that is credible these days. As a result, journos do not want to jeopardise these few sources by penning utter nonsense just to fill column inches. He says its likely sources just clam up when you do this and as there are so feew nowadays, there's not many to turn to. As a result, he says that most of what we have read in the last few months is either on the money or based on strong belief from good sources. ie very little crap. He says nowadays many of them prefer to wait until a credible proven "lead" journo (he mentioned Bascombe here) uncover something and then many jump on that with there own little twists. He says with info more scarce they would rather do this than print pure rubbish and jeopardise good sources.

He says there appears no credible info that DIC are buying out G&H.

Now his bobmshell.

He says that there is a massive story brewing and no-one wil run with it as yet until not so much that the club has given the ok to, but a strong source gives the nod that its pretty much nailed on. He says it is that Rafa will be leaving in the summer and yes, you guessed it, Mourinho didnt take the England job because we apporached him.

So there you go, make of it what you will. I'd rather not take a pasting for this, I assumed some would be interested in hearing. He's a good bloke and has no reason to make up porkies for my benefit.

I dont consider it to be inside info, i know the guy who told me and even i dont know whether to believe it. Just thought it'd be of interest on here so i posted it. As i say, it's nothing new to what we've heard before, but same as i'd mention it to an LFC supporting mate, i thought i'd let you lot know.

I'm not particularly saying it's got much value, just another bit of heresay i guess.

Makes no sense! If we can't provide cash for transfers and stadium for Rafa how on earth do they propose to keep a guy happy who has just been used to a limitless budget (within reason) and who left his last club because of a disagreement with the owners.

I think any lack of funds for rafa would be more because they'd be intent on sacking him, rather than because they HAVE no money to give.

Sure the stadium issue is a potential problem, but transfer funds pale into insignificance compared to the monies needed for a stadium.
