Time for Babel to start up front?

I'd like to see Babel upfront when Torres isn't playing rather than as a partner for him. When Torres isn't playing we lack any pace whatsoever upfront. Two from Kuyt, Crouch & Voronin just doesn't cause the opposition enough problems. they can hold a high line knowing they won't be beaten for pace over the top. This compresses the whole game and makes it easy for the opposition to defend against us. With Babel in the side they have to sit deeper due to his pace allowing more space for the midfield to operate in.

We can keep playing players in the team with each other to the best of their abilities. I'd like to see that happen with Babel and the other players mentioned too. There's plenty of life left in Babel et al and if the cap fits then wear it.

He's not a winger and he's too good to sit on the bench.

He deserves 3 or 4 games up front with Torres.....

I have said this for the past few months. When playing for Ajax, he prefered playing up front.

I think we would see more out of him.

Still believe to solve it though we need another top striker in the transfer window.

I may sound a bit deluded here but Ryan Babel IMO can become one of the great players in World football - from what I have seen he has incredible potential.

He is quicker than Torres IMO and has bags of tricks and a devilishly powerful shot - Maybe we need to let him loose and not make him too defensive minded. Seems very frustrating that we are not getting the best out of him because he really has it all.

I hope Rafa gives him an extended run in the side - he adds the unexpected to our attack and with a bit of confidence he can really get going.

He is indeed talented, he needs to improve his decision making though. He is however well worth a punt upfront, much better option then Kuyt and Crow.

You've got to bed these players in slowly. The last thing you want is their confidence shot to pieces. Think Eduardo at Arsenal. He was banging in the goals for the National side and yet Wenger brought him in slowly. Babel is one for next year. Anything we get from his cameos this year is a bonus.

Time for Babel to start playing good he's been very disappointing

He really isn't an out and out striker either so if he should play upfront then it's together with Torres as the second striker but I doubt that Rafa will do that.

Our second striker usually do a lot of hard work to create space for Torres and that isn't Babel's strength.

I'm not saying for a second that it's an 'ideal' partnership, but it's worth a go.

Anything is better than playing Voronin or Kuyt up front at the minute.
