I think one of the two is a great option in the squad but I can't help feeling that having both is a bit of a waste. I also think that the more we play Babel on one of the wings the more we will get out of either of them as his runs into the box take some of the weight off them in those areas.

There game is based upon them being able to hold the ball up and making it stick.

at the moment neither are doing this and keep losing the ball far to often.

Being cynical for minute here, but I reckon he was only a stopgap until Rafa had the funds/opportunity to get someone else in.

I mean bringing in two £20m strikers - or in that price range - in the same window doesn't happen very often to any club.
      I hate Polanski

Chavski, Barca, REal & one or 2 Italian sides apart.

Let us hope so anyway. I think we need a play-maker type alongside El Nino.
        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Do you reckon he's tiding us over until the arrival of a certain Mr. Villa in the summer.

Seriously though, our forward line is beyond a joke at this stage. Torres aside, we've been consistently poor upfront under Rafa and a lot of his forward signings just haven't cut it. I'd shed no tears if Kuyt, Voronin and Crouch all left he club in the summer. We need better if we want to win the league.
A humble guy with healthy desire.

Agreed, altho I think Crouchie is worthy of a 3rd or 4th spot, but Rafa seems to rate him less & less & with less games the big man is losing his form big time.

Nemeth should be our fourth choice striker, not Voronin.

That would give him time to adapt to league. He wouldn't play week in week out but enough to get him ready to play more next season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm sure Rafa realises he's not in the same bracket as Torres. He was a decent signing in terms of squad improvement.

As has been said, he started well enough but has dipped in the last couple of months. That's not uncommon for someone in their first season in a new leagiue so I think people are being a bit unfair.

Having said that I'm starting to come round to the view that Rafa might get shot of either Voronin or Kuyt in the summer (for the reasons dww posted), should a suitable replacement be available or if he deems Babel worthy of a forward place.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

In other words are we now seeing the true Voronin or has he hit a sticky patch and will get back to the kind of performances he was putting in during the first few weeks of the season?

He is and always was a mediocre player.

I hate to say it but Voronin is the the Vladi, the type of player that every now and then does something that make you think "this fella could be good" but those moments are getting less frequent now.

I agree that he is a bit to similar to Dirk in the workhorse department. Voronin being the more creative and Dirk the better goal getter (on paper at least), though if we could combine the two Dirk Voronin could be a useful squad member.

He's been sucked into the Vortex that is Rafa's "second striker" position. Sometimes he does produce from there - for example Besiktas - but like Kuyt for the most part he finds it hard going.

                          Too early.

Maybe, but if people think Voronin / Kuyt / Crouch are ineffective then I don't see the harm in giving him some sub appearances or the odd start.

I'm all for fast-tracking him into the squad but to make him fourth-choice first-team striker after not even a handful of reserve team experiences would be irresponsible.

He's not a baby, he's featured for Hungary at U21 level and for MTK back over there. He turns 19 in a week aswell?
