If we were that close this team would buckle under the pressure, all it takes is someone from Man Yoo to say we are genuine challengers and the challenge goes tits up.
      We come not to play.

It's not about whether they'll win it or not, it's the whole "all we have to do is win this game, thats 3 points, then that game...etc and they'll lose this one, then this one" etc that makes me laugh.
this isnt a thread about lost points, its about media perception this is all

although they struggled early doors with injuries? ronaldo being out would hit them hard as would vidic or ferdinand

i dunno, Nani is pretty able as is Anderson in fact didn't Park return vs Sunderland?

If both centre backs got injured they may struggle however they are well covered with Bake Bean and Nob O Shea.
              We come not to play.

any of the top teams would miss there star players, scum included.

Thats where our positivity should come in, we've done well considering we've had Agger and Alonso out for long periods and Torres missed a chunk of games too, add to that we've just seen Kewell return and Pennant is still out we've done OK. These guys are integral to the way the team plays, especially the way the team passes the ball, only the Chavs have had anything similar.

The media will write us off, why? because we are unproven and until this team grows a pair and steps up to the challenge we will continue to be the also rans, Who cares about what the media say - The team needs to step up and beat all commers.

IF we win all our games from now on i would be confident in saying we will finally be champions.

Unfortunately this is turning into a Manc thread.

This was not the intention. And I think that although they would appear to be the front runners again this season, they are far from the invincible force that some here would have us believe.

Arsenal have been sussed out by many a club and the 'others' will hopefully be just as found out by the supposed lower teams. I won't pretend to know how to nullify their positives but there are managers out there (including ex-players that have plyed their trade under AF) will stake their position on beating or frustrating said team towards the end of the season.

Win our next 6 games and then we can talk about possible title aspirations. At the moment its just a bit depressing because it now reminds me of the Reading game.

That puts us on 39 points. I think only one of the Arse or the Mancs will be able to replicate their form in the second half of the season and double their tally, thus reaching at maximum around the 90 point mark . That means it's 90 points to win the title (our goal difference will be the best, mark my words.

So 51 points from 19 games sounds tricky, but it is in fact only 17 wins and affords us two losses. Who (honestly) are we going to lose to? We play Chelsea during the African nations (3pts), there is absolutely no way the mancs can scab us AGAIN (3pts) and i honeslty think we'll be too good for the young Arsenal team second time round (3pts). HOWEVER, part of me is a realist and i think on balance we'll probably lose to one of these, accounting for one of our losses. That means against the rest of them prem (which is IMO generally pretty dross) we can still lose another game providing we win the rest.

And that's assuming a team reaches 90pts, which is pretty unlikely, 85/86 might nick it.

                          JOB DONE.

I love this positivity you're showing mate, good on 'yer!

The Scum are a shade over 1/2 at most bookies. We are 14/1 at some. I know where the value is.

Much can happen before we play United at OT. No one knows how the squads will look like which players that will be injured/suspended.

We should be able to beat Chelsea at SB, they will be without some key players in that game.

It's not impossible to win away against Arsenal if we have some luck.

We can still win the league but we can't afford anymore dropped points in must win games.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think that another defeat for Man United (it happened at Bolton so it's not such an unthinkable scenario) much like the Arsenal defeat at Middlesborough would make people see the situation very differently.

We need to put a run together though. In a way after the Derby game we need performances as well as results to build confidence. If we can win our game in hand then I think we can be in a position to challenge.
