When's the lad back from injury? I think we are missing him hugging the tochline on the right and am a big supporter of his.

What were you hoping for? Ronaldinho in the reserves? JP can do the business - I don't know why some people have it in for him. He is no superstar winger but he's better on the right than anything else we have."Every time i sit around i find i'm shot."

Id personally put him behind Benayoun and Gerrard in the pecking order for the right myself like but I agree with your point, until we get someone better, not much point in slagging the lad off.Originally posted by MARTINOZ View PostWhat were you hoping for? You're right. But the point here is that most people do slag him off. Yet in my opinion too, we have missed him.Originally posted by paulcooper4 View PostId personally put him behind Benayoun and Gerrard in the pecking order for the right myself like but I agree with your point, until we get someone better, not much point in slagging the lad off.

We have missed the option to really stretch teams with width - i.e. Kewell one side, Pennat the other. He also creates a different sort of chance to that which Yossi engineers.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostIn what way are we missing him? Benayoun has been largely excellent in Pennant's absence and actually carries a goal threat.
I also think we have played kewell too much as he offers width on one side at least. With Pennant back we could play Yossi on the left against some teams and still have some width in the team.
I think Rafa misses having a full selection of options and at times he has as a consequence made less than optimal compromises. I also think that at the end of last season and the very start of this Pennant was playing well and did add something to the team when he played. I do agree he needs to add a goal threat to become a real first XI selection on a regular basis."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

As you mentioned Yossi is not a natural winger and in tight games like yesterday sometimes we do need a bit of width to stretch the opposition.Originally posted by dww View PostWe have missed the option to really stretch teams with width - i.e. Kewell one side, Pennat the other. I'm ignoring the last few posts in this thread. He offers genuine width and pace on the right. He doesn't always get to the by-line but he stretches defences, which is what our forwards need, Man City were able to play tighter defensively on the their left hand side because of this, and we lacked a threat because of their defence. Come back JP.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostIn what way are we missing him?
