Kewell not thinking of a new contract

Liverpool winger Harry Kewell insists he is not even thinking about a new contract at Anfield.

Kewell's current deal expires in the summer and as yet no talks over an extension have taken place.

The former Leeds ace is now fully fit after an injury-ravaged last 18 months.

Kewell, who can talk to interested clubs from now, is not worrying about his contract situation and is only focusing on playing regularly.

"The last four years have been hellish with one injury after another," Kewell told the club's official magazine.

"But I can't even think about a new contract. That is what people have been talking about and saying about me, but I will tell the truth so the fans know the truth.

"And that is why I haven't honestly thought about it, I can't think about it at the moment

"With my injury history and record of games and goals, I can look no further than the next match."

Hmm, will be interesting to see if the club offer him a new contract. I think they will, providing he can stay fit for the rest of the season

He shouldn't be offered a new deal before the end of the season.

You know what's going to happen though, he'll sign a new contract, get called up for a friendly match between Australia and the U-15 Papua New Guinea team and tear his hamstring in three different places.

I agree sign him up, a good squad player but his contact would need to be halved in my opinion!!

If he can stay fit for the rest of the season and plays well, I think he will be offered a new deal. Probably 1 year contract with option to another year. And a lot smaller wage than now.

                  That's bull**** mate.

You realise Harry has only played for Australia around 30 times, so this whole 'he always gets injured on international duty' argument is absolute crock.

He got a freak injury at the World Cup in 2006, yes that is a major tournament, not some team like Papua New Guinea.

Due to a combination of poor diagnosis on behalf of the club, and purely having no luck, he has been injured a fair bit. Not his fault.

Yet, he always works his arse off to get back to fitness and play for the club.

A lesser person would've given up by now.

Its the only way we cant justify 80,000 odd every week for him in a new contract

Im sure he would be happy with pay as you play as he's made his money and its hios boyhood club and he wont get another team as big as Liverpool

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

i really hope he gets a new contract. Harrys a very very good player, and an intelligent player something Rafa likes.
