the table doesn't lie and we are far closer in ability to EFC, Villa, than we are to Utd, Arsenal & Chelsea.
    That's the reality i'm afraid.

Let's just wait and see where we are come May but finishing 15-20 points or more behind the champions was not the way things were supposed to be after four years in charge.

I'd certainly give him an extra year if we won the CL again - and we'd have to win it not just (just? JUST?? ) reach the final, but that's the only thing that should save him next summer if we don't start competing strongly for the league in the second half of the season. At this moment though it looks like we're in the final few months of Rafa being our manager and that makes me sad.

i want him to leave with dignity. He's not going to win the league, ffs he doesn't understand the league. If anything since he arrived his league form has got worse. If he's here next season he'll make the same mistakes. I think the Champions League run will determine whether he's even with us till the end of the season.

Tinkering is in his nature. And a team thats unnecessarily tinkered with will never win the league.

Of cousre we can say the squad isn't strong enough but he's bough most of our players. The only starting 11 type players left from Houllier are quality with the exception of Riise and Kewell.

      When is enough enough?

Maybe its time for a change. they always said rafa was a lucky manager, maybe they are right cause luck doesnt win leagues it wins cups. consistency wins leagues and the only thing consistsent about liverpool it our inconsistency and the fact that next season will be our year......

He won the league with chelsea twice, i would discount that, as i could have won the league with them and all their money, and ranieri would prob have won it the season he did anyway if he wasnt shafted.

He won the league and champions league with porto, people say with a limited budget, but the league in portugal is incomparable, and the players he had were different class...look at the team, it was broken up and sent to europes top clubs, where they are all success stories...a far better team
of stars than the pool team that won it a year later.

We all saw how "brilliant" his tactics were against us in the cup comps, where the winner takes all. NO CONCEPT OF FOOTBALL TACTICS.

He would stick terry or huth upfront in the last 10 mins.... thats not football, thats bull****.

I dispise all that he stands for, he's a whinger, a diva and a showman, we can all think of examples of this, and he likes to hog the limelight when the team has succes, opposite to rafa.

We have a real man incharge of our club, If only the right people would support him. One of humility, one of breeding and someone who respects all values, inside and outside of the club and city.

Do you think that maureen respects anything or anyone in life???

If maureen became manager i would still support lfc, but i would stop attending, no matter how much success he would bring!

          He is not LFC
Cant argue with much of that. People bang on here about the 'heart and soul' of the club, and how G&H need to respect it. Well I'll tell you what, get Maureen and you can kiss our soul goodbye!

I love the deluded people on here that think Rafa would win the premiership given time. In order for that to happen United, Arsenal and Chelsea would need to stand still and not improve, this is never going to happen. The way rafa plays is too defensive for the league, simple as. We are no nearer now than when he came.

Also we just dont have the money at the moment to compete. Our owners are slowly but surely f*%#ing this club up.

              Brilliant post.

I'd be gutted if we lost Rafa, he is our El Salvador!!

For what it's worth, the dollar is expected to improve in the near future, this month certainly. It may not be massive, but when you are talking tens of millions of pounds, it makes a hell of a lot of difference.

For what its worth Rafa did **** up last night. The team he put out was the type of team we should have away at Old Trafford or at Highbury, not at home to Wigan. Rafa probably thought last night would be a doddle, to be fair so did all of us, and he could choose to experiment with the team. It back fired and we were ****. Both Rafa and the players have to take the blame for it. But, onward and upward, we got a point, we'll **** Luton and take it from there.
Chris, a reasonable assessment of what happened but it's part of what is wrong with Rafa's philosophy. Putting out the type of team that you'd expect away at Old Trafford when you're home against Wigan has no logic to justify it whatsover.

Also, I think he is disrespectful of other teams too often. It's as if he'll look at a team and say I rate this team as 5 out of 10, so I won't pick my own 9 out of 10 team, I'll pick a 7 out of 10 team instead - that should be good enough.

It's too tough a league to do that so often and not get your fingers burned. He did the same against Birmingham in my opinion.

People will always defend him with "that team should have beat the likes of them", but that's simply saying "we should still have won despite the manager."

The manager is paid to win football matches, not for his team to win football matches despite the team selection or how he has set them up.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Can you provide proof that the have to come up with £40m, by proof I don't want to hear your journo friend told you or you read it in a paper that they believe. Give some good hard facts instead of saying it in every post. Also the loan they have at the moment has the option of being extended to 2009 according to the press (those people you like to quote), at the time of the takeover they stated the loan was for 2 years and recently have been saying that it can be extended to the full 2 years so RBS will not take ownership at the end of the month and if you think G&H will let it come to that then you are really stupid.
