We got a nice points haul with Crouch, Cisse, Morientes and a half fit Fowler leading the attack in 2005-2006. We won 12 of 15 games last season with Crouch & Kuyt up front and Crouch himself was on the winning side in 3 out of 4 matches he started. You can't tell me that the squad we have now is weaker than the one that ended last season?

How can anyone say though that Kewell, Gerrard, Torres and Pennat backed by forward playing full backs like Aureio and Finnan isn't attack minded?

Maybe, but some of that could arguably come from a lack of consistency in selection.

Crouch for example took some time to recover from not being picked for Athens despite being our outstanding performer in Europe that season - a complete smack in the face for a guy who was under used in the campaign as a whole. Babel seems to be played in 3 or 4 different positions cos Rafa doesn't appear to know how to get the best out of him. Yossi the same. Lucas, I'm not sure what's going on there, he looks quite tidy when he gets the chance but remains 5th choice for centre midfield even though Momo is obviously no longer up to the task.

Finnan? how many has he scored? one?He was a canditdate for MOTM and played better tonight than Manu`s,Arse`s or Chelski`s RB has done all season
Carra? when rafa first came he said he wanted 5 a season or something and he was attacking corners yet now he never looks likely.Stupid question
Ardebola? he attacks well when played at full back but he's not ever to blast one in. Again stupid point
Aurelio? no goals, poor freekicks but he did look better against city.And has just came back from long term injury

Alonso? The odd pearler every season yet still not enough for someone of his ability.Had a great game

Then you have Gerrard & Torres. We now have two get out of jail cards in the team.

No. but in 10 years times all Rafas kids will be winning us the league anyway.

But its all about being realistic. We have spent £90 million more on our squad than Derby so were miles ahead of them. The mancs have spent £80 million more than us and they are six draws better off.

I'll keep saying it, give Rafa a real transfer budget and he will win us the league

I know we won't be outspending the mancs. They'll always have more money than us unless a bizarre set of circumstances happen.

I'm saying, it's pointless to compare spends, if we're relying on outspending the SCUM and the Chavs then we are using the wrong method because we will never succeed.
We need a different method, one not dictated by spending more money than them. Isn't that why we hired Benitez? After he did it at Valencia?
