The great thing about Rafa is that he is planning for the future to. He has revamped the youth and reserve teams and they are now beginning to enjoy success.
Two FA youth cup wins in a row - never been achieved before. Top of the reserves league at present too. This means that the money he spent is beginning to filter through. In two to three years time we could be hot on the heels of Arsenal with regards to players making it into the first team squad.
Then there's the first team. A complete shambles when he took over, but still won the biggest trophy in European club football. And made it two finals in three seasons last year.
With regards to this season, great start, but we seem to be lacking confidence at present. Unlucky v Man U and Man City, we'd be loving the league right now had the outcome been different, but any team can say what if? Fulham being the prime example. It's full time scores that count.
I, However, have seen enough of Rafa to suggest that he is the man. And for those thinking of change - Ponder on this snippet of information:
We all seem to be agreed on the fact that we do not have a great deal of cash. How much do you think it would cost to sack Rafa and all his backroom team, and than give the new manager the money required to completely change the squad. Yep, that's right. ****ING MILLIONS. And guess what? We don't have millions.
And for the impatient ****ers amongst us, who forgot it took the greatest manager in recent times (Alex Ferguson) quite a few seasons to win the premier league, they should remember that with a new manager we would be starting from scratch, once again.
And for those who say he'll never win the league - He won La Liga twice. Yes it's a different league, but it's still a top class league and if you can win it in Spain, you can win it in Italy or England as far as I'm concerned.
At the very least, give the man until the end of the season before you jump to conclusions.

Great post.
More, give him until the end of his contract and back him in the transfer market.
Why is everyone talking like Rafa will lose his job this summer? I'm following all these news from Asia so I have no feel of the mood on Merseyside but reading through the forum, everyone seemed to think Rafa is the next Martin Jol and this is despite recent comments by Hicks and Parry (ok, i know they cannot be trusted!).
i love rafa. he is has made some mistakes but so has fergie, wenger or any other manager you can mention. will he get the time and financial support to address our shortcomings and his mistakes?
i'd love him to have the full support of the board and the fans but sadly it seems this is not the case- it used to be a week was a long time in football, now its 45 minutes of one match.
total stability with everyone- from boardroom, playing staff, manager and fans pulling in the same direction is the only way to run a truly successful football club. does anyone deep down believe that's what we have? sadly i don't
IF he is a gonna then there is nothing worse than a dead manager walking. it undermines the club and i am sure it would effect the players at some level. as much as i love the man i support liverpool and IF him leaving (and replaced by a manager of similar standing) is the only way to create the situation i've described above then it is in the best interests for all to call it quits.
i hope it doesn't or hasn't come to this, but seeing as how its unlikely we'll overhaul a 12 point deficit on not 1 but 2 excellent teams (and 1 other incredibly deep squad) i'm too depressed to see any other outcome
i will forever be grateful to the man for some amazing times as a reds fan, but if he was gone by next week i wouldn't be that surprised

"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"
I think he's brilliant, to achieve what he has with the squad of **** he inherited then having to cope with all this nonsense from the Americans.
The problem I have is that I don't think he'll be given the time to complete the rebuilding, the board have to allow the manager to manage the football side of the club, that includes who he wants to buy and who he wants to sell, if they aren't letting him do that then we're all royally ****ed because they'll get rid in the summer and we'll have to start all over again with someone else in charge.
I don't think it's about how much money he has to spend because it has been quoted that 2 of the players he wanted to bring in were bosmans, it's about being backed to bring in who he wants.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
