    Young Player of the year

    ...Spanish ace Fernando Torres.

Liverpoolfc.tv asked supporters which player aged 23 or under had impressed them most throughout the year.

Torres took 35 per cent of the vote despite playing only five months of 2007 in England.

Daniel Agger came second with 28 per cent and Javier Mascherano third with 17 per cent of the vote.

    Ryan Babel
, Lucas, Jack Hobbs, Nabil El Zhar, Sebastian Leto and Emiliano Insua were also in the running.
Not bad eh, you could almost forget just how young they are. I would struggle to find many better young players for their respective positions. The future is not as bleak as it may seem.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

That is pretty impressive. We've a lot of good young players, just hope they'll help bring back number 19.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

I think if we can go on a decent run and guarentee 4th but are still a distance from 1st we should think about treating this season as Wenger did last - building up young players and gaining them experience. I think part of our problem is we go into each season with a weight of expectation born of our long run of failure to win the league. For young lpayers the fear of failure is always one of the first hurdles that needs to be overcome.

We have a lot of young talent but much of it needs to gain experience to blossom. At the minute not all of our players are getting it and in some ways I find that a bit of a worry.

If we can't do that then I would like us to loan a good centre half for example so we could in tern loan out Hobbs to get some experience rather than purchasing more players who will be ahead of our young talents. Players who come in from outside will have to learn Rafa's methods and unless they are exceptional talents are IMO unlikely to be much better than giving some of our reserves game time.

I agree with what you're saying, it is frightening that those three are in the running for the award. However, if you look at Arsenal and the Scum, they have:

Fabregas, Adebayor, Flamini, Van Persie, Clichy

        Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Anderson

They both have 4 or 5 to our 3. And whilst ours are all 23 a few of theirs are a bit younger.

        WE NEED MORE QUALITY YOUNGSTERS.

Yeah, but we don't own one of those great young players. And it looks increasingly unlikely from JMs comments that we will.
