    24/30 million sitting on the bench!

    Kuyt = 10 million
    Crouch = 8
    Benayoun = 7 million
    sissoko = 6 million

    Yesterday that's what we had: 24/30 million sitting on the bench!

    They are average players (i prefer Benayoun than Pennant and i think that pennant should be sold not Yossi), with 25 million you can buy a David Villa, you can buy a Berbatov or cheaper an Anelka. So there are funds yes; just get rid of the players who are not good enough for LFC and surprisingly that rafa bought.

    What worries me is that clubs like Portsmouth and others have bought 1/10 of what we had and we are still only 3/5 points above them!!!

    But then we don't have a bench!
    We can't sell our whole bench to buy one player.
    Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

          Is Our Squad As Good As Some People Think?

          we have a squad laced with crap/ordinary players who would not get in to any of the teams in the top three.

          Chavs can replace class with class (except up front where i think they could improve), so can arsenal, so can manure. their subs come on and they have all cost as much as our best players, we are still not in the same league spending wise, and that is a fact.

          Our biggest signiing is torres for 20m, these teams wipe their arse with that.
          FFS manure could add nearly 10 mill to that and spend it on a defender 5 years ago!!!!

          Our 1st team has improved under rafa but the squad is too full of cheap buys and free transfers or that type of player.

          Would half of our squad get into the SQUADS(nevermind teams) of any of the clubs above us?
          I have highlighted the players who I think would not make it in the squads of the top three.

          You may not agree with all of them, but even if you knock a few off, it's still a scarely high number of players that are not good enough for our oposition, and therefor not good enough for LFC(even though some have been great great servents)

          Steve Finnan

          Sami Hyypia

          Daniel Agger

          John Arne Riise

          Harry Kewell

          Steven Gerrard

          Fernando Torres

          Andriy Voronin

          Yossi Benayoun

          Fabio Aurelio

          Xabi Alonso

          Peter Crouch

          Jermaine Pennant

          Alvaro Arbeloa

          Dirk Kuyt

          Ryan Babel

          Javier Mascherano

          Lucas Leiva

          Momo Sissoko

          Jamie Carragher

          Pepe Reina

          Charles Itandje

          Sebastian Leto

          Jack Hobbs
          Referee Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty, and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”

            I agree that the squad is not strong enough. It won't be until we get some of the youngsters up. We obviously can't afford to buy the qulity we lack so badly.

              Don't think Benayoun would get in to the top 3's squads.
              We come not to play.

                Then have lesser players on the bench? Players who wouldn't normally make the bench?

                  I think he's saying that we have 4 players which cost us the better part of £30M on the bench and all are average. That teams like Portsmouth have spent a fraction of this and have average benches too and are closer to us than they are to the top.

                  Rafa hasn't been given a great deal to spend in comparison to the Manu and Chelsea, but probably a fair bit more than Wenger over the last 3 years, and hasn't spent it wisely.

                  The proof is there in black and white really, nobody can argue with that. We all have opinions but the table doesn't lie, does it? Have we not spent more than Villa, Everton, Citeh, Portsmouth, Arsenal?

                  We accept that Chelsea and Manu have riches we can only dream of and thats why we can't compete with them, but our superior finances over the teams that surround us are irrelevent? It's not irrelevent at all and shows the failure ultimately of the manager, his players, his tactics, his man management. We should be, based on our spending, a strong 3rd.

                  "If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

                  I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

                    Stupid argument...look at Shevchenko at Chelsea, i mean sure they overpaid for him but when he rides the pine that is 30 million on the bench...in one player.

                      I think our squad is good. As good as Utd's. Our problems are all around coaching/style of play/tactics etc. i.e., the players are good enough to challenge, the manager just doesn't know how to use them. Our current squad, managed by Wenger would be challenging for the title imo.

                        I dont believe you would be saying that last season and the one before that when Arsenal were struggling.

                        Alot of people are only looking at the 'now' instead of the bigger picture. Arsenal fans werent calling for Wengers head the last 2 seasons because they could see what was coming off with his new batch of youngsters.
                        Rafa is on the same path, but like Wenger was given, he needs time to see it through

                            the argument is simple:
                            why waste 10 million on kuyt,8 million on crouch, 6 million on Sissoko, 6 million on Gonzalez, 7 million on Pennant? which makes the total of 37 million when you could have bought 2 WORLD CLASS PLAYERS instead!!!!!

                            average players give you average performances!

                            Remember that other teams don't have our resources and have almost the same points as us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

                            so the argument that we are not playing on the same level playing field as the mancs etc can rebounce against us when we remember of the number of points everton, aston villa and portsmouth have!!!

                              I guess you takes your chances. Who knows that any purchase will be poor, average or a success until they play in the team.
