Yes, maybe DIC will buy the club and allow Rafa to splash the cash all over the place, who knows?Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostSo you're saying it's a possibility?
Not that realistic but you can always dream.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If you look at our current situation then I will agree with you.Originally posted by superdan View PostMore realistic than Eto'o, Diego or half the other players you've said we should sign

Clearing out the mediocres now? Rafa has been doing that since he arrived!!!. It is unfortunate that we can't have a 22 of world class players though.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostRafa growing a ****in spine for one.
But mostly a ****in clear out of the mediocres NOW.
You hear most people say we need a clear out/restructuring/getting rid of the deadwood whatever you want to call it, but in the summer. My question is; why wait? It's obvious that there are players who are quite frankly appalling by the standards required to compete on all fronts - especially in the league - so why shouldn't they be axed now?
No doubt people will bleat on about continuity, which is a weak excuse, because let's face it there isn't any out there on the pitch at the moment.
People might blame rotation, but that’s another fallacy. The likes of Torres, Reina, Carra, Gerrard, Madcherano and Agger always play because they’ve earned their places through strong consistent performances, and also partly because there’s nobody else good enough to replace them with.
But the rest of ‘em? Oh dear. It’s a lack of quality compounded by the manager constantly chopping and changing the second raters, and formations, in hope, rather than expectation that they’ll perform.
Surely by getting rid of the wasters you actually improve the team because you no longer feel the need to “give them a go” “because it’s their turn”.
You tell me, would we miss Harry Kewell at all if he was ****ed off out of it and Ryan Babel came into the side? Or Pennant, with Benayoun getting an extended run in the side? Likewise Voronin, and especially Kuyt, who continue to let the side down?
And of course we can always sign players in January.
Who cares if some are cup tied in Europe? We’ll still have enough players left over to be competitive in that. Plus we’d use them in the league for the rest of the season giving them time to adjust for next season.
Look at what the scum did a couple of years ago, won **** all, out of the European cup before Christmas, yet they went and made changes in January, bought Evra and Vidic and gave them 6 months to settle into the team then pushed on next season.
Surely we should be doing the same?
Time for the Yanks and Rafa to grow some bollocks and be brave.
Or are we going to waste another 6 months using this current ****e, wait until the summer, make changes and hope they work right from the start of the season?
That’s enough mindless rambling from me…..
It is not practicle to get rid of every player that may not be top class either? just exactly what standard should every squad player be?.
Should we risk being unballanced and just get rid anyway and **** it if we cant find cover?.
Rafa will be loking for players with certain attributes, not just any striker etc......Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

We could do what almost every other top team except Chelsea do. Use the youngsters instead of signing players for £5m-£10m. That would save a lot of money that could be used to buy players that will make a difference.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostClearing out the mediocres now? We would then have for example around 17 or 18 very good players and the rest of the squad is made up by youngsters that also in the same time would be given time to ease their way into the league.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Who said anything about world class? Half decent would do. Not even the scum, chavs or Barca have 22 top class players, but they do have a first team of 14 to 16 or so, and beyond that solid professionals of a good standard, or youngsters to fill in should they be missing for whatever reason.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostClearing out the mediocres now? Your post contains delusional excuses, and even worse you talk of us potentially being "unbalanced" by numerous departures. Sorry mate, but do we look balanced to you just now?
So what do you want to see mate. Should we hang onto the likes of Kuyt, Pennant, Sissoko, Voronin and Riise, players who offer us nothing? Or should we take a chance and improve things now instead of waiting while the rest continue to improve?I hate Polanski
