JOHNSON: THERE'S NO CRISIS AT ANFIELD
    Paul Eaton 04 January 2008
David Johnson has hit back at those who have already written off Liverpool's season and declared: "There's no crisis at Anfield."
Despite kicking off the new year with a disappointing home draw with Wigan, the former Reds' striker is adamant the future is bright at Anfield and that the sense of frustration among fans after dropping four points over the festive period will soon be turned around.

"There were great expectations that we would start the second half of the season with a win but unfortunately football doesn't always work like that," said Johnson on LFC TV's 'This is Anfield' show.

"It was a hard game for us but we should have won. On the night we just didn't take our chances, Wigan had one shot and came away with a point.

"If you look back at the Manchester United game a couple of weeks ago we restricted them to one shot as well but they went away with the victory. That's how difficult it can be at times.

"There's no crisis at the club though. In fact things couldn't be better at the moment. We have new owners and new faces within the club, it's just that results aren't quite going our way.

"There is frustration among the supporters but that's only because we haven't been taking our chances. We're called supporters because we support our team through thick and thin and will always continue to do so."

Johnson also points to the stunning performances of record signing Fernando Torres as a main reason why Liverpool fans can look forward to a transformation in fortunes sooner rather than later.

"If you were to describe the perfect striker then you'd want someone with a good physique who can use his left and right foot. You'd want him to have pace, be brave, intelligent and be good in the air. That's Fernando Torres.

"Of course you also want him to be scoring goals and he's producing there as well. I'm delighted with Fernando, he's a great asset for us and will be in the future."

Some people seem to forget this.

I agree with Paul agreeing with himself.

Pretty much agree with everything he's said there.

Some good perspective but we still have the right to question some of the decisions on and off the pitch.

                Otherwise we are called sheep.

you could get a few PM s from the welsh looking for your number if you keep carryin on like that
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

He's spot on, there's no doom and gloom. We need results to come our way just to quantify how much the team is progressing.

                          What a **** article.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Reading this article and then Lawro's, they are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Thompson thinks we are skipping through the tulips, while Lawro has got a Smiths record on and is loading his double barreled shotgun in preparation for the end.

Our current predicament is entirely subjective. One thing's for sure though - actions speak louder than words. We'll be able to gauge our situation much better after this transfer window has closed and the deadline for the loan re-financing has passed.

                              exactly!

If those pesky Manutd players hadn't scored from their only chance, If Wigan hadn't equalised....If we had more points than second place we'd be top of the league by now

I like the way he says "we've got two new owners", but then fails to mention anything about the reported financial situation, the stadium, probability that Mascher is off even though he wants to stay.

                              Complete ****e.
