I'd heard about the disagreement over training methods etc but I thought the reason Pako went was because he went for an interview for the Bilbao job (without Rafa's permission) and also refused to be on the team photo this year.

Just goes to show that nobody really knows the REAL reason.
      Liverpool born and bred.

          Cheers Les,some interesting stuff here.

But someone mentioned Babel on here during the week, said that Pako didn't want us to sign him, said we didn't need him or something?

            Can someone explain?

I'm sure it been covered but someone mentioned the Babel signing as a contributor to the fallout, can anyone shed some light.

If it's been done to death Mods feel free to close this and if someone could PM the reason, chers.
As far as I recall, Rafa and Packo were bickering for a while.
It was getting Childish between them, Packo sayiing do you want me to leave, I will leave etc over a period of time. Just differences of opinions I think and ego. I'd say fitness workouts could have been the final straw though. Also, Rafa brought in more trainers while Packo was still with us. Another fact that could have been a strong contributor.
Whatever the reasons anyway, it was probably for the best, if that s what the relationship was like. Saying that though, we could do with a proper Number 2 for Rafa.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

            * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
