As for Klinsmann denying it. Well his sports consultancy firm do work for Gillette don't they. He's not going to bugger up a lucrative business relationship by spilling the contents of private negotiations in the international press is he?

Paul Joyce in the Express. Before we get any conspiracy theory bollocks he's a season ticket holder.

    MORE PRESSURE PILED ON BENITEZ

Bayern have been looking for a manager for quite somtime now and weren't they linked to Rafa a couple of months ago? Didn't Bayern officials claim that he was their no.1 choice? If they knew that Rafa was about to be replaced by Klinsmann why didn't they go for Rafa armed with the info he was about to be sacked to be replaced by a mangerial nobody? This could all be bull****...but you get my point.

The press have it in for Rafa.
Thanks DS. I'd forgotten about that but it entirely explains why Bayern "sources" would say what the media claim they have.

      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Mourinho was their first choice followed by Rafa but both of them turned them down according to my friend. The Bayern officials didn't say that he was their number one choice, just one of the names they considered.
In the last couple of months he's been 'linked' (clearly by his agent) to Spurs, Newcastle and of course ourselves. Or have you forgot about those links to suit your own parnoid agenda??

If Klinsmann really was offered the LFC job and Bayern knew about it why didn't they tell Rafa and thus try to lure him to Bayern? ITS ALL BULL**** THATS WHY.
Now you're doing exactly what what your slagging other people off for. Speculating.

To be frank, I've got no idea whether this story is true or not. The papers are running with it though so i expect a full and swift denial from Parry sometime today. If we don't get one I'll be very concerned.

Why shouldn't he be linked to other clubs also. Happens all the time with players and other managers.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Exactly. It makes them look like they got their man who was wanted by the mighty Liverpool fc to replace Rafa Benitez. They're trying to hype up their appointment when in all probability no club wanted Klinsmann as manager, especially from England.

                Linked with Spurs...Ramos joins.
Linked with Newcastle....but they'd rather not, instead plumming for Harry.
'Linked' with Liverpool...Rafa is still our manager.

Bayern desperately need to raise their profile in Europe as their star has fallen considerably since they last won the CL. What better way to do it then to claim that they are a more attractive proposition than a side who's reached the CL final twice in the last 3 years?

Tom, Rafa coming out in public and saying what he said, whether true or not, clearly implies that Klinsmann was not or at least may not have been Bayern's first choice. So it immediately undermines his appointment.

This way it builds up Klinsmann in the eyes of the fans, muddies the waters over whether he was first choice and also serves to get back at Rafa at the same time.

Whether any of what's been claimed is actually true is, in a way, beside the point.

You've got to play fire with fire. Fight bull**** with bull****.

Klinsmann was never offered the job. I've explained why I think that in my last post.

This is Bayern Munich we're talking about here not Everton. They don't need to play these silly games.

You see, without intending to sling mud, this is what I don't get with you.

You keep alluding to what Klinsmann got the job offer, and crack jokes about him being offered the manager position, but you haven't heard anything from solid sources about it.
I take it you go by what you read in papers, plus adding in what you heard through the grapewine about the owners on other issues.

I sure as hell don't think everything is rosy, but I also think this is rumour mongering is not helping our cause at all.

Just one point. The articles say that they needed to come up with the money to get Klinsmann so nothing to do with that Bayern looking more attractive than us. It was a money decision according to them.

Of course you will be, because when it comes to all things LFC you're a nervous wreck at the moment. I feel for AF's sanity as well...he's in pieces, poor lad.

I don't. The reason is that Klinsmann knows just like everyone else that if he admitted that then it would be bye, bye to that manager. That would really show a lack of respect.

Actually if he had said he had offers from England but turned them down to manage Bayern it would probably make him more popular among MUnich fans!! This constant crap has to stop though. It's about time Parry released a statement rubbishing these claims along with all the other stories about Rafa getting the sack. The press are having a field day and the boards silence on it is pissing me off bigtime. Rafa deserves their unequivocal support.
