Hmmmm. What does that actually mean though? They're business men, and possibly quite greedy ones at that. They would be mad not to want us to be as successful as we can be, this can't just have come out of nothing, however little they know of the actual game itself. A section of lfc fans have been less than convinced about Benitez' ability, even with support, to get the best out of what he has got, and to make the right decisions enough, for much longer than this has been going on. I'm not one of those btw, but it wasn't the fault of the media storm that Benitez played one upfront against Fulham, or rested Torres against Portsmouth (a), or failed to set the team up at all right for the home leg v Marseille, or keeps picking Kuyt, or bought Pennant, or any number of other things I've seen decried on this board over the season. I don't want to have to go pulling up posts from some infamous post-match threads, but this place hasn't exactly been a bundle of joy after a lot of games this season, and apart from the usual scapegoats, most of that has been firmly laid at Rafa's door by some people. Sometimes a lot of people.

Now I know its a question of degrees, and in no way am I suggesting that sacking Rafa and bringing in Klinsmann, or anyone else, would be the right thing, but I think its more understandable than people are allowing for that the owners on the other side of the Atlantic may have received feedback that there was some disquiet amongst fans about some of Rafa's decisions and his ability to lead us to the title. Its not like the media (back to them again) has been full of ringing endorsements for Rafa this season either, or ever as it happens. I just think this is less black and white than people like to make out.

But there's no guarantee that Rafa's replacement will do a better job. Then you have the inevitable costs off paying off the current management team, compensation package for the club who's manager you're snatching, the turnover of players as the new manager wants to mould his own team etc. These are things they need to consider as well before rushing into any decisions. Is Rafa doing such a bad job (given his record and that he's got it right in the past) that's it;s worth going through this upheival?

I'm hoping that the show of support for Rafa at the Porto match has given them food for thought. We're Liverpool, we do things differently, we don't sack managers willy nilly.

Can you not even consider the possibility that Bayern are just trying to make themselves look good coming out of these stories??
If you search then you will find that I mentioned that Klinsmann could join Bayern but at that time he was one of several targets. Rafa and Maureen was ahead of him. Lippi was another target. Klinsmann was in no way first choice.

I don't remember the exact words I used or in which thread but I mentioned it.

It could of course be just what you say, a PR stunt from Bayern. I won't rule out anything in this mess.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

That's not what I was saying. I meant how come your journo friend never revealed OUR offer to Klinsmann earlier?? Strange how he waited for every ****bag journo to report it before he told you.

Maybe because even a journo need to go on a holiday. He was in Switzerland with his family over crimbo and the new year and a week before that. It makes it a little bit more difficult for me to reach him.

I don't want to bother him with my questions when he want some peace with his family.

As ever its almost impossible to know whats going on because i never believe anything anyone says.

was Klinsmann telling the truth that he had no offers from England. could be but equally he may be lying as if he has had an offer from LFC he's not going to say so as he has business links with LFC and he wouldn't want to say he'd been offered someone's job.

Are Bayern munich telling porkies when they said Klinsmann had a contract offer to manage LFC. No reason for them to lie except it makes Klinsmann look more wanted han he actually maybe.

All in all then whilst there no proof either way i still feel as I did before hand that Rafa is on borrowed time at LFC and H&G will give him the boot in the summer.

Oh no, of course not, I completely agree with you myself, but you can't have failed to notice that not all fans on boards like this feel the same way... at least when talking about Rafa in isolation from the current situation with the owners, christ, we've had to read enough of it after some games this season unfortunately.

Of course, I've noticed both mate. But I would like to think these people are the fickle, impatient minority and not representative of the way most Liverpool fans feel. When push comes to shove I think most people are firmly behind Rafa. Here's an example for you - when we drew v Birmingham in Sept, my cousin texted me something along the lines of "we'll never win the league with this Spanish goatee-bearded muppet, let's get Mourinho". And he's a very intelligent guy, I wouldn't call him fickle particularly. Yet in Nov when things were looking bleaker than in Sept, and Rafa's job was on the line, he was chanting Rafa's name and "Rafa's going nowhere", in the Rafa support march before the Porto game. Up to that point, supporters were asking questions of Rafa, but when it looked like his departure was a very real prospect they rallied behind him.,

When it comes down to it, I think most people are behind Rafa and want to see him given more time. When the spectre of Rafa's departure looms large, that's when I think most people will realise that they want him to stay and be afforded more opportunity to succeed.

Unfortunately, it only takes a few dissenters to make their point, make their voice heard, and it makes it look like they're the majority.

Agreed, but imagine this, as a new rumour emerges out of Bayern today, bear with me i know we've all heard it by now, about Klinsman actually having a job offer on the table, or near as damn it, IF, i really stress IF the rumours are true then surely Rafael with all his contacts & friends in the game will KNOW it's genuine, Now if this is the case how on earth is he feeling right now, he came out with a statement about how much he loves the club & fans the other day, i just get the feeling he's ASKING out loud to keep a job he loves, No wonder the Team is underperforming.

Alan Green on 606 this evening stated on more than one occasion that Klinsman had been offered the Liverpool job however Klinsman opted to join Bayern instead,

According to Green the story originated from Bayern.

I've no reason to disbelieve Green. He's a huge Liverpool fan and he's not going to air this type of thing if he thinks there is no validity in it.

is it possible that klinsman had been offered a job at not liverpool, but maybe not rafa's maybe a director of football or some other such position

In any case if it was Rafa's job i'm starting to detest these yanks, I mean if it had been someone good I'd maybe not be as bothered, but ****ing klinsman what the hell has he ever done, ****ing retarted decision if it ever had of happened

Green made it pretty clear that Klinsman had been offered the job of Liverpool manager.

Rafa's obviously on the way out in the summer.

it is looking more of an inevitibility as each day passes, i mean if 6mil to sign a defender which we obviously greatly needed is all they are giving him then it's not really a vote of confidence is it
