The truth is that the other top teams have two ball playing central defenders, we don't and the attacks start from the back.
We hoof the ball and then our central midfield must first get it back and then we can start to build our attacks against an already organized defense. We have more or less no quick counter attacks.Originally posted by paulcooper4 View Postjohn terry

Voronin, Crouch and Kuyt
There's arguments to be made for them individually as decent 3rd or 4th choice strikers in a big squad, but collectively they've got to be the worst set of strikers we've ever seen at our fine club, especially when you consider the truly great strikers we've had down the years.
When you think we've got rid of Baros, Cisse, Morientes, even Bellamy, who at least had a bit of pace, to bring these jokers in, there's just no defence for Rafa. With the amount of money he's had our attacking options should be a whole lot better.

I'd be quite happy if both Voronin and Kyut never played for our club again.
Criticism of Crouch, at this stage, is a little hard to take. He may not have been prolific since he joined us but he's been worth his transfer fee. He;s chipped in with a good number of goals some of which have been vitally important.
It's fairly obvious that we need a quality striker to partner Torres or a Rooney / Tevez type player to compliment Torres

Sorry mate but Kyut and Voronin should be no where near Liverpool FC. Not even as reserve players.Originally posted by Jesus View PostAs I said, you could probably make good arguments for all of them individually being in the squad, but not ****ing all three.
At least Cisse / Baros et al knew their job was to score goals,

Part of me feels sorry for Voronin. And Kuyt.
They both look totally out of their depth and, consequently, completely drained of all confidence. They can't be as bad as they're both currently showing, but they must be shown the door in the summer.
And given Crouch looks a stonewall goner, we ought to be seeing all three shipped out soon.
Such upheaval is unlikely, but it's hard to envisage long-term futures for any of 'em.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I know it won't happen but I'd rather see Benitez given money to buy a striker now than wait to the summer.
Voronin would never have been signed if the Americans had shown up earlier but certainly shouldn't have been given this much playing time as he has had. Kuyt is a Benitez type of player but a striker needs to score goals and Kuyt doesn't.
I really don't know what Crouch has done but he does look a gonner.
I want to see somebody in now. Forget about players being cup tied for Europe. Target number one should now be fourth place. I think we could struggle if we lost Torres.Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.
Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Don't be such a cock.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostOK, you don't want to hear my opinion so I'll just answer your question with a straight

Nice thread
All you've added to this is
"Look at the way we played against Besiktas and Derby. We can play good football, we just suffering from a lack of confidence and consistency"
"What I mean is we are capable of playing good football but we're not consistent enough and we're not aggressive enough. We sit back too much"
Its hardly added nothing to the point I raised, i.e. have we improved in the quality of our football?
Houllier had a fair few games where we looked good, so did Evans. The odd game here and there happens at a club like Liverpool. Inconsistency....no ****!!!!! That again was the same under Houllier.
Don't be getting your knickers in a twist with those two lame arguments and come back with sarcasm, thats just pathetic.
Great argument....
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Exactly, same problems, different manager as far as I can see. We aren't playing as a unit, we rarely move forward as one and we seem to rely heavily on Torres or Gerrard as our only goal scoring threat.Originally posted by Morph View Postwhat i find truly baffling is that we seem to have gone backwards since the signing of torres, which I can't fathom.
The worrying thing is we're going back to the days of relying on owen to score our goals under houllier, and that to me is either a change in tactics or lazy ****ing players who are happy to leave the goalscoring to Torres and Gerrard
Gerrard seems to have taken a back seat as well since Torres came into the team. He's rarely taking the game by the scruff of the neck as he used to.
Rafa's Valencia almost strangled the opposition to death. They could keep the ball for as long as they wanted, pressured the opposition and were just highly efficient. They destroyed the opposition over 90 minutes.
All I see with Rafa's Liverpool is limited creativity, a group of players moving forward with no conviction or plan, inconsistency, a lack of self belief, and under achievement. Has there been a significant improvement in these elements since Houllier? Personally I don't see it.
