RAFA: LET'S GET BACK TO TALKING FOOTBALL
Paul Rogers 14 September 2006
Rafael Benitez today offered the hand of friendship to Jose Mourinho ahead of Sunday's Premiership trip to Stamford Bridge.
Recent meetings between Liverpool and Chelsea have tended to focus on the relationship between the two managers rather than the players on the pitch and Benitez believes it's now time for everyone to get back to the only thing that really matters – football.
"The problem's been that, in the build-up to these games, people are always talking about things that have nothing to do with football and, because we talk about this all the time ahead of these games, I think it's now time to stop speaking about it," explained Rafa.
"If Jose wants to shake hands, I don't have any problems with that. I will shake his hand. I prefer to talk about football than these small things. I'll give to him the opportunity to shake hands if he wants. We'll go down there and be his guests on Sunday. At the end of the game, I will wait and see if he offers his hand. If he does, then I'll shake it. Not a problem.
"For me it's time to finish with this situation. People should be talking about football. We should be talking about things on the pitch, not matters off it."
dont you just love rafa.no-one knows how to get under maureens skin like rafa. How stupid is maureen gonna look now when he refuses to shake hands after we give them a hiding.
