Masch to play in the Olympic games

    Riquelme and Mascherano Beijing bound
    (AFP) Friday 18 January 2008

Playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme and midfielder Javier Mascherano will play for Argentina at the Beijing Olympics where the South American giants are the defending champions.

Coach Sergio Batista said Friday that Riquelme, who now plays at Boca Juniors, Liverpool's Javier Mascherano as well as Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis will be his over-age players.

Tournament rules allow three players over the age of 23 to be included in each squad for the Olympics which runs from 8-24 August.

Riquelme is 29, Demichelis is 27 while Mascherano is 23.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

WTF? ****s sake. Mickey Mouse tournament or what, and he'll miss the start of next season (provided he's still here of course).

Everything about that post made me a little sad.

Looking on the positive maybe we could see the best of Lucas in that time or something.

Call me daft but I don't get the Olympic rules. Do any home nation teams play in this and if not - why not?

probably be 24 by the time the game come around.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
