QUOTE=DJS;915609]To be honest, the way G&H have been, if rafa had threatened to quit, their response would've been 'quit then' and he'd have gone.[/QUOTE]

Correct. They would love it if Rafa quit.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Two of my own top candidates. However there are probably many candidates out there that we might not know about - i mean i had never heard of avram grant before he came to chelsea and im impressed with the job he's doing.

i'm impressed with avram grant in the same way i was impressed with houllier at lyon. Any old scrote could do what they did/have done!

No offence Rash, but your off tangent.

Rafa has won "things" and he's been ****ed over this year. IMO he will prevail and win more "things".

            Bollocks.

Noone's suggesting that if Rafa went then all our Spanish players would definately go. What is being said is that there is maybe a bigger risk of some of the Spanish guys leaving with Rafa than other players who have been in the English game a while and considering a lot of our better players are Spanish (and would have offers from big clubs) then what's not logical about that?

I can't name a few situations where a manager has been followed out of his club by his fellow countrymen because I'm not aware of any and don't give enough of a **** to find out. What I will say is that not too many Spanish players have had a very long career in the EPL. Much like Italians they have tended to stay in their own country (of course there's the odd exception) as they have a very good domestic league. If the stability that attracted them to LFC (and many players have commented on it) was pulled from under their feet would they not be more likely to move on if a good offer came in from Spain if Rafa was no longer around and they saw the club as being unstable?

I disagree, based on the fact that it simply doesn't happen.

do you honestly think that Rijkaard could challenge the title with our current squad. he has enough problems getting a team full of world class player playing together, he has only one style of play as he has shown and with a couple of key players for that system are injured the team is lost...

there is not a manager in the entire galaxy that could win the league woth our squad...

Hiddink hasn't exactly won anything that you can count as a big title.

It all depends on the new manager and what country he comes from. A manager usually sign players from the league(s) he know and have great contacts in.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Why not? we've got "the best midfield in the world", 2 excellent centre backs, a world class keeper and one of the best strikers in europe. Player for player we've probably got the best squad in the league in most positions. As much as I hate to say it, ferguson could probably win it with our squad. If he can make league champions out of the likes of wes brown, darren fletcher, park ji sung, alan smith etc then i'm sure he could do the same with the pennants, kewells and riise's of this world.

You can't win the league if you don't have an excellent starting XI without any holes in it. If you are missing quality in a few positions then you won't win against the other top clubs.

I agree with you. Our managers methods are as much to blame for the players underperformance as the players themselves if not more so.

think the big differnece with united is these players joined a team that had players and backroom staff that had won the league year in year out
The whole club will have that mentality - so its easy to add the odd poor player and still have a PL winning side.
They can be 10 points of the top and still believe they can win it - same for Arses and Chav's.
                              Been there done it mentality.

Remember some of the players we had in the 80's helped win us the league but at any other club would of been crap.

We need to win it once and then still keep them players for a few years and we'd be callenging year in year out.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

i don't know about that tbh. i agree that our center backs are on par with chelsea and utd and we have one of if not the best midfield and reina is on par with anyone on the world but thats it. they beat us in every other position, we have one world class striker, utd have two + a very good 3 one when fit. chelsea have drogba but have better attacking players to back him up, arsenals strike force is better than ours even though none of them is better than torres as an individual. all these three sides have better attacking player and wingers than we do appart from gerrard. utd have match winner all over the team, as do chelsea, arsenal seem to have a match winning side rather than individuals, all of them can score...

pako admitted it last summer when he said we weren't yet on par with the other top sides, he said we are at a simular place in a head to head game, but over 38 games we're not there yet...

ferguson couldn't take over the side now and do better, the only reason he could win it with all those poor individuals is that he's been managing the side over 20 years and he can make not so good players fit into the system of a great team and make them perform their duties, having said that he still had a better side than we do even though he had to use some of these rather dubious players...
