Pity, he still could have done a good job for the international team. He's the best full back we've had over the past few years.

It's just a shame that he was played out of position for a large part of his international career to accomodate muppets like Steve Carr.

Thanks for the service Steve and now you can concentrate on helping bring home no. 19 and no. 6 to Anfield.
A humble guy with healthy desire.

        FINNAN ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL RETIREMENT
        Paul Eaton 22 January 2008

Steve Finnan has today announced his retirement from international football.
The Liverpool right back made 50 appearances for the Republic of Ireland since making his debut against Greece in April 2000.

Said Finnan: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Republic team, with the World Cup in 2002 being the highlight of my international career.

"But I'll be 34 when the next tournament comes around so it's the right time for me to step down.

"There will be a new manager coming in soon who will have his own ideas for the future with younger players having the chance to stake their claim to be in his plans."

never got a fair run in the team, was constantly over looked in favor of far inferior players for some reason.

wish all our players would retire from international football. it annoys me
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Good god. Some actual football news has broken out.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

My son Foster is a fan of soccer. He was a goaltender. His brother was a defenseman.

Excellent news. It's a mystery to me how he was never one of the first names on the team sheet in what is largely a mediocre squad.

tbh i didnt know what the **** he was on about initially.

its not like he's going to get in the next wc squad, so its best for all concerned really that he concentrates on lfc.
