What evidence is there in recent years, to suggest that they're even on a par with us where the CL is concerned? Let alone better...

    We'll do them.
Well, given our current form (seemingly unable to beat anyone bar Luton at home – couldn’t beat them away though!) and, more to the point, our disastrous state of affairs off the field, I think it’d be a bit of a coup to beat Inter.

Granted, we have a better track record in this tournament than they do and in many neutrals eyes we may be the favourites, but I won’t see it that way – unless our form drastically improves before then.

They are a very good, strong side. More to the point, they’re stable off the pitch (I think ) and we’re not and it’d be a marvellous feat if we beat them IMO.

The same players who totally bottled it when conceeding to West Ham and Wigan, and couldn't beat them...at home.
Inter are often 'amazing' in the piss-poor Serie A...remind me, when did they last look like winning the CL?

It's also the same set of players who played Chelsea off the park and went to Athens last season...in fact, it's a better set of players.

Form wont count for much, when the big night comes. We were apparently in turmoil before we went to the Nou Camp last season, in-fighting and no team spirit apparently. How did we fare? Muchos brilliantos.

This is the strongest side Inter have had for years. Like I said in my previous post, there's no denying our record in Europe in the past few years. The team/club is in a state of chaos, and whilst it would be nice to believe that all that will disappear for the CL games. I have my doubts.

Although, obviously, I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah but this is very much a different kettle of fish. Before Barca, Riise and Bellamy hated each other.

Now, our manager hates the owners, the owners hate the manager, the fans hate the owners.....AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!

Point taken though - form may well go out of the window.

I hear what you're saying but Inter only dropped 18 points in Serie A last season, they won 30 out of 38 league games and only lost 1 - but it didnt mean anything in the CL.

As for us being in chaos, the same could've been said for Italian football last summer. They won the world cup. And we were apparently shot of team spirit last season, when JAR and Bellamy had their spat. We went on to beat Barcelona in their own back yard.

Things arent perfect behind the scenes, but sometimes it draws the players together.

I think it WILL go out of the window, nowhere does European football like Anfield and like so many before them, inter will fold.

                We'll **** them.

4th or 5th. 50/50 really which way around, but what worries me is that we're struggling at the moment whilst Everton have had a pretty good run recently, so we need to turn things around asap....however we have Chelsea in a few games....away.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

BTW, since rafa came, he's had 11 knockout CL ties and won 10 of them. Fecking have it

I think we'll finish 4th, but I also think we're going to win the CL.

No I agree....kind of. I'll certainly agree come the day of the game, and by kick off we'll be ****ting them 8-0.

Maybe true in some cases. But certainly hasn't been the case for us in the last couple of weeks.

The league's gone, so the motivation there is also gone.

The cuptie at Luton was seen as a gimme, so nobody was up for it.

The inter tie will be different.

I'm going to go with my inner optomist on this one though. We're better than all the other teams fighting for fourth. Sure we have some tough games to come but there's no reason why we shouldn't do it.
I don't think saying 4th is optimistic, any less than that would be a huge failure. The teams currently around us are doing very well to be where they are, whereas we've played fairly **** to be better placed than all of them. Even if we continue to underperform I expect us to bumble our way to a 4th place finish.
