It was on Sky Teletext I think

Could be they are thinking of last year's purchases, but have a look at page 251 on Sky text, page 3.

The lies. If they'd been honest in their first press conference I doubt they'd be half the bother there is now but if they're going to bull**** their way along then people will pull them up on it.

At the first press conference they said "The loans we're using to purchase the club are on them, not the club" - which is still the case.

You're right though, it's been a shambles of a communication, although it will be interesting to see how THEY present this refinancing when it happens.

The way I see it, if they'd paid in cash, then they wouldn't see much of a return for 2-3 years, but (like with Man U this year) once the money came rolling in from new stadium, increased marketing etc. they could start taking a return from their investment.

So... all things being equal.... unless we have miracle merchandise sales etc. I wouldn't expect much club money to go to pay for interest (it will come out of their money, or more likely more loans ). Otherwise we're just going to go sideways for several years buying mediocre players as we have been.

Lets hope we dont get a friggin' joke of a sponsor to name the stadium because this is where the most dosh will be generated.
I think the Arse made 100£ M for using the naming rights for the Emirates, if we can do the same for say "Anfield Adidas" or summat we'll be ok.

More likely any money they've borrowed will go towards paying off Rafa and his coaching staff when they get sacked.

I'm sick of tired fo these two muppets taking us for a ride and pulling the wool over our eyes. I for one will not rest until they are hounded out of Anfield
What many people are failing to question, is "why" would hicks and gillet make such bad business decisions (in the eyes of the average "expert" fan) as to lower the value of the club which they probably want to make money from? They've been in business a lot longer than anyone here and have made masses of money. My guess is that they know exactly what they're doing - the fans need to be patient and stop rocking the boat. If they hadn't come to the club there'd be no Torres and no new stadium - anything is an improvement on the pricks that were in charge before.

This has actually turned out a whole lot better than I thought it would. It seems that the club purchase is secured against Hicks/Gillett's company, the stadium funds against LFC and the remainder presumably transfer money they are putting in.

A much fairer approach and very different from the Glazers.

BTW Hopefully the El Jefecito money is part of 50m

The potential for us to be the next Leeds is frightening.

                    The upside is great.

                    We're getting a new 70,000 seater stadium.
                    They've loaned 45m for players
Hicks has promised to back Rafa for years to come.

                    Looks good to me.

Carheex, I'm sure you are as well aware as anyone that there is no new stadium. Grand designs yes, new stadium, no, not yet. Can you tell me with absolute 100% certainty that these two jokers can deliver the new stadium? No you can't. So please shut up about the new stadium that wouldn't exist without our magnificent owners.

As for Torres, do I have to point out again that our net spending this past summer was less than what we made in CL revenue, and was completely in line with what it has been in previous close seasons? There is in my mind no reason to assume therefore, that all things being equal, the purchase of Torres could not have been made under the previous regime.

So I take it you believe that G&H are planning for success, ie their goal is to win the league? I dont agree. I think sporting achievement is secondary in the list of their priorities to making profit, and therefore for them the key objective is continual CL qualification. I am willing to bet that they thought Liverpool were an entrenched top 4side, that would be qualifying for CL every season and that the financial rewards for this are sufficient to make this the height of their ambition. This way as long we keep on getting CL footy while their outlay on players is not the exorbitate amount possibly neeed to win the league but instead enough to secure top 4 finishes every year then this to them is probably the most effiicient way to make money.

£10m for sacking a manager who wants funds to win the league and repalcing him with a yes man while expectingthe team is still good enough to get top 4 regardless is a lot cheaper than backing a manager to the tune of £40m in the hope he might win the league

the bit in bold is at best an outright lie for starters. They have no intentions of backing Rafa

It will be interesting to see if this is true. From what I've read the players part is simply refinancing the loans used to buy the 45M worth of players we signed last Summer?

Even if that is so, still leaves 15m + our usual budget.
